Novak Djokovic became the second player to record 100 victories at the Australian Open as he defeated Pedro MartÃnez 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round on Monday. The 38-year-old’s wife, Jelena, cheered for him on social media.
Djokovic is the most successful male player in Australian Open history, having won the Grand Slam 10 times. He is eyeing a 25th Grand Slam title this year, which would make him the player with the most Grand Slams in tennis history.
Wife Jelena Supports Novak Djokovic After 100th Australian Open Win
Djokovic looked to be on top of his game as he comfortably dispatched Martinez in the first round of the 2026 Australian Open. The win helped him become only the second player in the Open Era to win more than 100 men’s singles matches at the Australian Open, per Opta.
Roger Federer was the first player to achieve this feat, and the Serb will now have the Swiss legend’s record of 102 wins at Melbourne Park in his sights.
After Djokovic’s win, his wife, Jelena, shared several posts on her Instagram story celebrating her husband’s achievement.

Djokovic’s win over Martinez also made him the first player to win more than 100 matches at three different Grand Slam tournaments. Apart from the Australian Open, the Serb has also achieved this feat at the French Open and Wimbledon. Djokovic isn’t too far away from completing his century at the US Open either, with 95 wins to his name at the New York Major.
What Djokovic Said After 100th Australian Open Win
After completing his 100th win at the Australian Open, Djokovic reflected on breaking yet another record in tennis. The Serb said that making history is a great motivation to him, and added that he was blessed to still be playing at the top level.
“What can I say? I like the sound of it… Centurion is pretty nice. It’s nice to be a centurion in these numbers. History making is a great motivation, particularly in the last five, 10 years of my career. Once I got myself in a position to create history, I was even more inspired to play the best tennis,” Djokovic said after his win over Martinez (via ATP Tour).
“I was very fortunate early on to encounter some people that taught me and guided me to play the long shot with my career: not to burn out too quickly, and try to have the longest career possible. I’m blessed to still be playing at this level,” he added.
Despite being 38, Djokovic is one of the favorites to win the Australian Open, alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Up next for Djokovic is a second-round match against Francesco Maestrelli of Italy.
