The 2025 season marked a true resurgence for the former World No. 1, as she claimed her first title in four years at Saint-Malo, reached the WTA 1000 final in Montreal, and returned to peak form at Flushing Meadows with a semifinal run. She wrapped up the year with a 35–15 record and a return to the Top 20.
After wrapping up her 2025 season, Osaka returned at the Atlanta Cup, an exhibition event held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Duluth’s Gas South Arena. The showpiece also featured top stars like Aryna Sabalenka, Ben Shelton, and Nick Kyrgios.
After suffering a three-set defeat to the Belarusian Duluth, the Japanese star will headline the Garden Cup at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Monday, December 8. Osaka is slated to face Aryna Sabalenka, while the men’s showdown features home favorite Tommy Paul against Nick Kyrgios.
As she prepares on all fronts for her upcoming clash with Sabalenka, Osaka made a candid admission on Threads, revealing that treating every day like her last and acting on impulse is what she considers her toxic trait.

In another post, she shared that she can’t get along well with ‘fake people.’ She wrote, “I can’t rock with fake people. Eeeeeeyuckkkk.”
