Alexander Zverev’s long wait for Grand Slam glory is finally over. Two years after suffering a devastating loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final, the German emerged victorious at Roland Garros after beating Flavio Cobolli in a thrilling title clash. Zverev’s girlfriend, German model, actress, and television presenter Sophia Thomalla, shared a heartfelt reaction to the biggest achievement of his career.
How Alexander Zverev’s Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Celebrated His French Open Triumph
While several top seeds, including Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, and Daniil Medvedev, faced shocking upsets at this year’s French Open, No. 2 seed Zverev produced a strong campaign, losing just one set en route to the quarterfinals. He claimed a 7-6(3), 6-1, 6-3 win over Rafael Jódar to reach the semifinals and defeated Jakub Menšík 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to book his spot in the final.
Although Zverev initially dominated his showdown with No. 10 seed Flavio Cobolli in the blockbuster final, the Italian fought back to claim the second set, and the match eventually headed to a decider. The world No. 3 held his nerve in the crucial fifth set to seal a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 victory, clinching his maiden Grand Slam title.
Just minutes after his victory, Zverev’s girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla, shared a loving reaction celebrating his accomplishment. Thomalla hasn’t been present at the French Open during the German’s campaign, but she still made sure to show her support from afar.
“He has it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Thomalla posted.

Thomalla continued to display her admiration for the 29-year-old’s victory on social media.

Zverev has been in a relationship with Thomalla for five years, and he has been very appreciative of her calm and grounding presence in his life.
“I think for tennis players, it’s always very important who you have by your side. Sophia is someone who gives me calm and security. But ultimately, I’m the one who makes the difference. Over the last 20 years, I’ve put an enormous amount of work into my tennis, especially with my father. I’ve done everything I can to get to where I am now,” Zverev told Tennis Magazin in 2021.
After crediting Thomalla for helping him perform at his best, the German expressed his intention to keep improving with his sights set on achieving his goals.
“But of course, you can see that this is the first time I have a partner supporting me. I play extremely well with her backing me, and I hope that will continue next year and maybe even improve. I haven’t achieved all my goals yet,” he added.
Zverev has now achieved his biggest dream by becoming a Grand Slam champion. After losing his third Major final to Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open, the world No. 3 said he was determined not to be remembered as the best player of all time who never won a Grand Slam.
“I don’t want to end my career as the best player of all time to never win a Grand Slam, that’s for sure. I’ll keep doing everything I can to lift one of those trophies,” he said during his post-match press conference.
It remains to be seen whether Sophia Thomalla will join Alexander Zverev for his celebrations in Paris after winning the French Open. After agonizing defeats over the years, the German will undoubtedly be eager to savor his feat.
