Top seed Jannik Sinner and No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev have become familiar rivals on the biggest stages this season, with four meetings already under their belts. While Sinner triumphed in each of those encounters, Zverev heads into the 2026 Wimbledon Championships final brimming with confidence after capturing his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open just weeks ago.
As the two stars prepare for the biggest match of the tournament, here’s a look at the girlfriends and families cheering them on throughout their Wimbledon campaigns, whether from the stands at the All England Club or from afar.
Inside Jannik Sinner’s Support System: Girlfriend Laila Hasanovic and Family
Sinner’s parents have been notably absent from his player’s box throughout his Wimbledon campaign, despite receiving an invitation to watch his opening match from the Royal Box. The Italian revealed that he expected them to decline the invitation, explaining that both his father, Johann, and mother, Siglinde, did not enjoy being in front of the cameras.
“They didn’t say yes. It’s okay, I mean I know them, I don’t have to ask. Mostly I know my mom and the fact that she doesn’t want to be in front of the cameras at all, same thing for my dad. I expected a firm no and it came, so all good,” Sinner told Sky Sport.
Their absence from tournaments, however, should not be mistaken for a lack of support. Sinner has often spoken about the sacrifices his parents made for his tennis career, expressing his gratitude for the difficult decision they made when he was just 13, allowing him to leave home and train at the Piatti Tennis Center in another town.
At the time, both of the Italian’s parents worked at the Talschlüsshutte Hut ski lodge in Sexten, with Johann employed as a chef and Siglinde working as a waitress.
“I consider myself very lucky. Lucky because, when I was 13, I made a choice to leave home and to go to a centre to practise,” Sinner told the press at the Madrid Open. “I think this for parents is very difficult, especially for a mother, to accept that in a way, to just go and leave home. I think it was tough for me, but it was for sure more tough for my parents because they also would like to see the kid growing up.”
Sinner also has an adopted older brother, Mark, who works as a fire brigade instructor in South Tyrol. Alongside their parents, Mark was in attendance to watch the world No. 1 win his maiden Wimbledon title last year, prompting Sinner to make an amusing remark about his brother’s presence during his victory speech.
“It’s so special because seeing my parents here, my brother, my whole team, it’s amazing. Actually, a special thanks to my brother because there’s no Formula One race this weekend. That’s why he’s here,” Sinner said.

While Sinner has been focused on his title defense at Wimbledon, his girlfriend, Laila Hasanovic, has been back home in Denmark. However, the Danish model and entrepreneur could still make the trip to London for the final, much like she did during the latter stages of the Italian Open earlier this year.
Sinner and Hasanovic, who went public with their relationship in October 2025, did enjoy plenty of time together before his Wimbledon campaign. Following his French Open exit, the couple vacationed in Sardinia with the Italian’s father and brother before making headlines during pole vault star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis’ wedding to Desiré Inglander in the South of France.

A Look at Alexander Zverev’s Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla, Daughter Mayla, and Family
As Zverev looks to complete the Channel Slam, he is leaning on his father and longtime coach, Alexander Zverev Sr., for guidance at Wimbledon. The reigning French Open champion comes from a family deeply rooted in tennis, with both parents having been professional players before relocating to Germany after the fall of the Soviet Union, where they began working as tennis instructors.
Zverev’s older brother, Mikhail “Mischa” Zverev, is also a former professional tennis player who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 25. He now regularly travels with the world No. 3 on tour, serving as his hitting partner. The brothers have also enjoyed success as doubles partners, clinching the doubles title at the 2017 Open Sud de France in Montpellier.
The German has often acknowledged the important role both of his parents played in shaping his career, but he singled out his mother, Irina, for the influence she had on his development during his childhood.
“My father is my coach, but when I was younger my mother was guiding me more. I think I have pretty good technique, which my mum did at a young age, so credit to her for that. My backhand, in particular, is 100 percent down to my mum,” he told The Telegraph in 2017.
While Zverev’s father and brother were in the stands to witness him lift his maiden Grand Slam trophy at the French Open, his mother was spotted leaving the stadium after his warm-up sessions throughout the tournament.
Speaking to TNT Sports after his semifinal win, the 29-year-old revealed that she used their pet dogs as an excuse because she couldn’t bear to stay and watch his matches.
“She walks the dogs. Says the dogs can’t stay for so long in one place but that’s just an excuse. A big excuse. She doesn’t want to watch my matches,” he said.

Zverev’s girlfriend, German model, presenter, and actress Sophia Thomalla, was also absent during the clay-court Major. However, she immediately boarded a train from Cologne to Paris to celebrate his victory, which meant a great deal to the 29-year-old.
“No, she actually came along afterwards, which I have enormous respect for. She travelled for five or six hours by train, came along for the party and to join in the fun, and then headed back to Cologne at 7 a.m. because she had to film for Let’s Dance. Huge respect for that – travelling to Paris for six hours, just to be there and share in that joy. It was incredibly kind of her,” Zverev told RTL+ shortly before Wimbledon.

Zverev explained that he had asked Thomalla not to attend the French Open final because he wanted only the people who had been in his player’s box since the beginning of his campaign to be present for the occasion.
“Why wasn’t she at the final? I didn’t want her to come to the final. Because I always want everyone to be there from the start or not at all. I didn’t want her to come to the final, and the fact that she accepted that and still came to the party says it all,” he added.
Zverev, who has been in a relationship with Thomalla since 2020, also shared that he hoped to have children with her because he loved the idea of “huge families.” The German star is already a father to his daughter, Mayla, whom he welcomed with his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Patea, in March 2021.
This season, the world No. 3 has occasionally brought the five-year-old with him to tournaments, while protecting her privacy by keeping her away from the cameras. Even so, Mayla was recently spotted cheering on her father from Thomalla’s lap at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle.
With their loved ones cheering them on, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev will both be determined to give it everything in what promises to be a thrilling Wimbledon final. Sinner will aim to successfully defend his crown and clinch his first Grand Slam title of the season, while Zverev will be looking to make history by following up his maiden Major triumph with another Grand Slam trophy.
