Fresh off winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open, Alexander Zverev has carried his momentum into the grass-court season at the Terra Wortmann Open. During his hard-fought opening match at the ATP 500 event in Halle, the world No. 3 received special support from his daughter, Mayla, and his girlfriend, German presenter and actress Sophia Thomalla.
Alexander Zverev’s Daughter and Girlfriend Share Sweet Moment During His Halle Match
No. 1 seed Zverev kicked off his Halle campaign with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over VÃt KopÅ™iva, securing his 121st match win at the ATP 500 level and drawing level with Rafael Nadal for the most wins at that tier since the series was introduced in 2009.
The German’s girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla, cheered him on from the stands, along with his five-year-old daughter, Mayla, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea.
Thomalla and Mayla’s close bond was on display during the match, as the five-year-old watched the action comfortably from the presenter’s lap. As Mayla has grown old enough to enjoy Zverev’s matches, she has begun accompanying him to tournaments regularly this season.

It is rare for Zverev to allow his daughter to be captured by the cameras, as he has previously spoken about wanting to shield her from the spotlight and give her the chance to enjoy a normal childhood.
“I try to keep her away from the spotlight. I want her to be a normal child, growing up with a normal life. I try to keep her out of social media, all the Instagrammie stuff. It’s nice that she comes more and more,” he said during his Mexican Open campaign earlier this year.
The German also opened up about his easygoing off-court life with his loved ones in an interview with Esquire Germany after his French Open triumph. He revealed that spending quality time with his daughter, his girlfriend, and their pet dogs remains his top priority.
“Off the pitch, I’m an extremely laid-back guy. I want my life to be as uncomplicated as possible. All that matters to me is the well-being of the people closest to me – my family, my daughter, Sophia, my dogs. We simply want to spend quality, carefree time together. That’s my foundation,” Zverev said.
Alexander Zverev is expected to once again have the support of his girlfriend and daughter when he takes on fellow German Yannick Hanfmann in the second round of the Terra Wortmann Open. A victory will send the No. 1 seed into the quarterfinals, where he will face Raphaël Collignon or Mattia Bellucci.
