The Italian claimed a stellar 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory in two hours and 20 minutes to book his spot in his second consecutive final at the grass-court Major.
During his post-match press conference, Sinner dismissed the idea of following any superstitious rituals on his day off before Sunday’s title clash, saying he would stick to his normal routine. He expressed interest in watching England take on Norway in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup while emphasizing his relaxed approach.
“No, no. No superstitions. I’m very normal. I like to spend time with my team, with my friends if they come. World Cup is now. I think tomorrow England is playing so I like to watch football at the moment. The final is I think at 4:00. It’s late afternoon so you don’t wake up at 9:00 in the morning. You can sleep a little later. I’m very relaxed. I don’t have anything what I do in the same thing over and over again,” Sinner said.
The 24-year-old also said he intended to savor the “rare” experience of competing in a Major final, saying, “I also enjoy the moment. I know how rare these days are. Grand Slam finals. Tough to achieve and to arrive. You also need to enjoy this moment and the process.”
Looking ahead to the championship battle, Sinner acknowledged that Zverev would enter the contest full of confidence after winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open.
