Former Canadian tennis player and Frances Tiafoe’s partner, Ayan Broomfield, recently took to social media to share a personal health experience with her followers. The 28-year-old UCLA graduate made the revelation through her Instagram story, offering insight into an unexpected medical situation that led to her hospitalization.
What Did Frances Tiafoe’s Girlfriend Ayan Broomfield Go Through?
Broomfield was born in Toronto, Ontario, on Aug. 13, 1997. She built an impressive tennis career, winning the 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Doubles Championship while playing for UCLA. After stepping away from competitive tennis following the COVID-19 pandemic, Broomfield has focused on building her brand through modeling, acting, and content creation.
The former tennis player has been dating American tennis star Tiafoe since 2015. They went public with their relationship in 2018. She now runs the Ayan Broomfield Foundation, which provides tennis equipment and athletic wear to underprivileged youth.
In her recent Instagram story, Broomfield advised her fans to take care of their health and go for regular allergy tests after suffering a ‘really scary and painful experience’ herself.
Broomfield wrote: “Your sign to get REGULAR allergy tests. After getting violently ill twice in the past 72 hours (what I thought was food poisoning), I ended up so sick I had no choice but to go to the hospital.” She continued, “Long story short, I’ve developed new severe allergies and intolerances to foods that have never given me issues before.”
The revelation shocked many of her followers, as Broomfield had not previously discussed any significant food allergies or health issues publicly. She used her experience to warn others about the importance of regular health monitoring. “I always knew you could grow out of allergies, but I had no idea you could suddenly develop brand new ones,” she told her followers.
She finally gave an update on her condition, assuring the fans that she is fine, while wishing no one goes through it. “I’m completely fine now but I just wanted to share this because it was a really scary and painful experience that I hope no one else has to go through,” the Canadian concluded.

The health scare appears to be unrelated to Broomfield’s previous medical issues. In December 2024, she was hospitalized for an undisclosed condition that required surgery. At that time, she shared a video of herself being wheeled into surgery, saying, “Pray for me, pray for me.” However, the recent development of allergies seems entirely separate from health.
Broomfield’s openness about her health challenges reflects her commitment to spreading awareness amongst her fans. Through her foundation work and social media presence, she has consistently used her platform to highlight important issues and support others.
