Naomi Osaka’s French Open Outfit Draws Reactions From Aryna Sabalenka, Tennis World

Osaka arrived for her first-round match at the French Open dressed in a black and gold couture outfit. She sported a black corset and a matching pleated skirt over a glittering golden Nike dress. Her French Open outfit was designed in collaboration with Swiss designer Kévin Germanier.

The outfit earned a rave review from Sabalenka, who was on the TNT Sports broadcast at the time to reflect on her win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round.

“This is sparkling. I love it. I love that she’s expressing herself. She should feel confident. That’s the beauty of the fashion world. There’s space for anything. I love that she’s bringing it on court. I love to see fashion on court,” Sabalenka said.

The world No. 1 was also asked on the broadcast whether fans can expect to see her make a fashion statement on the court one day.

“I think we have a different style, but one day I will for sure come up with something cool and make a cool entrance on the court. I feel like I’d go with something more classy, something less but more,” she added.

Several tennis fans also shared their praise for Osaka on social media.

“I love how she is unapologetically wearing whatever she wants to wear everyday. I love it,” a fan wrote on X.

Another fan compared Osaka’s outfit to those worn by celebrities at the Met Gala.

“Naomi Osaka came to Roland Garros dressed for the Met Gala, not the clay court. Queen behavior. Love or hate the outfit, you can’t ignore her,” they wrote.

A third fan hailed Osaka’s innovative outfits.

“You gotta love her everytime she comes with some lovely innovative fashion idea. Cmon girl,” they wrote.

Osaka also enjoyed a dominant performance on the court, overcoming a tricky test against Siegemund in straight sets. Her reward for the win is a second-round clash against Donna Vekić. The 28-year-old has found her form on clay this year and will have her sights set on making it past the third round of the French Open for the first time in her career.
