Emma Raducanu Spotted Training in Seoul as She Gears Up for Korea Open

Emma Raducanu was recently seen training in Seoul ahead of beginning her campaign at the 2025 Korea Open. The WTA 500 hard court tournament started on Sept. 15, 2025, and will run until Sept. 21, 2025. The matches are taking place at the Olympic Park Tennis Center in Seoul, South Korea.

Last year at the Korea Open, Raducanu defeated Peyton Stearns 7-6(4), 7-6(5), and Yuan Yue 6-4, 6-3 in the first and second rounds, respectively. However, she had to retire in her quarterfinal match against Daria Kasatkina after struggling with a foot problem, with the score at 1-6, 0-0 retd.

Emma Raducanu Spotted Practicing Ahead of Her Campaign at Korea Open 2025

In the lead-up to the 2025 Korea Open, Raducanu competed at the 2025 US Open. There she triumphed over Ena Shibahara 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and then overcame Janice Tjen 6-2, 6-1 in the second round. She was eliminated in the third round by Elena Rybakina, losing with a scoreline of 1-6, 2-6.

Since the conclusion of her campaign at the New York Major, Raducanu traveled to Seoul to begin her preparations for the Korea Open. She received a wild card entry into the main draw of the tournament and is seeded eighth. Recently, she was seen training ahead of her first-round match.

The former US Open champion was previously spotted hitting the practice courts with Eva Lys. The German has won her first round match at the WTA 500 hard court tournament, defeating Ashlyn Krueger. She has advanced to the second round, where she will face the third seed, Clara Tauson.

In her last tournament, the 2025 US Open, Raducanu not only competed in the singles event but also participated in the mixed doubles alongside Carlos Alcaraz. They received a wild card entry but lost to the top-seeded pair of Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper in the first round, with a scoreline of 2-4, 2-4.

Who Will Emma Raducanu Face at the 2025 Korea Open 1st Round?

At the 2025 Korea Open, Raducanu will begin her campaign by facing     Jaqueline Cristian in the first round. In the lead-up to the WTA 500 hard-court tournament in Seoul, the Romanian competed on the North American hard-court swing, participating in four tournaments: the 2025 Canadian Open, the Cincinnati Open, the Monterrey Open, and the US Open.

In Montreal, Cristian reached the third round before being eliminated by Elena Rybakina. In Ohio and Monterrey, she was defeated in the first round by Markéta Vondroušová and Leylah Fernandez, respectively.

At the New York Major, the Romanian won her first and second-round matches against Americans Danielle Collins and Ashlyn Krueger before losing in the third round to eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova.

Cristian will face Raducanu in her first tournament of the Asian swing, at the Korea Open. The two players have never competed against each other on the WTA Tour, making their upcoming first-round match at the Korea Open a first encounter.

The winner of the first round match between Raducanu and Cristian at the WTA 500 hard-court tournament in Seoul will advance to the second round, where they will face either Barbora Krejčíková or qualifier Tatiana Prozorova.
