Svitolina’s French Open Run Comes to An End In Quarterfinals

Svitolina had an impressive run at Roland Garros until her quarterfinal clash with Iga Świątek. She kicked off her 2025 French Open campaign with a dominant performance against Turkey’s Zeynep Sönmez, cruising to a straight-sets victory, 6-1, 6-1.

In the second match, Svitolina faced Hungarian tennis pro Anna Bondár and secured a 7-6(4), 7-5 victory. Next, the Ukrainian moved on to the third round, where both sets went to tiebreaks. She battled through and came out on top against American Bernarda Pera, winning 7-6(4), 7-6(5).

In the fourth round, she took on Italy’s Jasmine Paolini and secured her spot in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought three-set battle. Despite a slow start, dropping the first set 4-6, she rallied to win 7-6(6), 6-1, overcoming the World No. 4 in impressive fashion.

Despite Svitolina’s strong performance, her run came to an end against four-time tournament champion Świątek, who defeated her 6-1, 7-5.

Svitolina is set to compete next at the Bad Homburg Open, a WTA 500 grasscourt tournament in Germany scheduled to start on Sunday, June 22. The event will serve as a key warm-up ahead of Wimbledon.
