Serena Williams Shares Family Moments Ahead of US Open Mixed Doubles Comeback

Despite the excitement around her return at Flushing Meadows, where she has six singles and two doubles titles, Williams has kept family at the center of her busy schedule. Sharing a clip of her time with her daughters, she summed up her day with a simple caption:

“Mom. Teacher. Then tennis practice.”

Her husband and Reddit co-founder, Ohanian, also gave fans a look into their fun-filled Sunday in NYC. The family visited Chinatown after their eldest daughter, Olympia, wanted to try durian, then stopped at Golden Diner and headed to Queens for a barbecue dinner. Ohanian joked that Williams approved of his food choices, writing:

“Busy Sunday with the girls in NYC. Chinatown visit because @olympiaohanian desperately wanted to try durian. And I did PapaPancake research at Golden Diner. Queens for BBQ dinner and Mama approved of the cornbread and I couldn’t believe she doubted my restaurant-picking abilities 😂”

Williams and Ohanian first met by chance at a hotel in Rome in May 2015 and started dating later that year. They welcomed their first daughter, Olympia, in 2017 and married two months later in New Orleans. The couple later welcomed their second daughter, Adira River, in 2023 after announcing the pregnancy at the Met Gala.

After nearly four years of retirement, Williams returned to competitive tennis this year at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club, where she teamed up with Victoria Mboko in doubles. They reached the quarterfinals, but Mboko withdrew with an injury, forcing the pair to give their opponents a walkover.

In Berlin, the 44-year-old partnered with Karolina Muchova but lost in the Round of 16. She was set to reunite with her sister Venus at Wimbledon, but a knee injury during her singles first-round match against Maya Joint forced her to withdraw from doubles. The sisters finally played together at the Cincinnati Open, where they lost to Marta Kostyuk and Peyton Stearns 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 in the Round of 32 after a close comeback attempt.

Now, she is set for a blockbuster US Open mixed doubles match alongside the young Spaniard. Williams and Alcaraz will face Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool at Arthur Ashe Stadium, not before 2 p.m. ET.
