Danielle Collins Explores Dating Apps Days After Instagram DMs Incident

Danielle Collins took to dating apps following her breakup and recent incident on her Instagram DMs.

Danielle Collins, the American tennis champion who recently confirmed her single status, has humorously posted about dating apps on her Instagram story while reflecting on her personal life changes. The 31-year-old professional athlete, known for her 2024 breakthrough seasons at Miami and Charleston, is navigating life after her split with longtime boyfriend Bryan Kipp.

Danielle Collins’ Recent Breakup and Dating App Struggle

Collins and Kipp had been dating after meeting at a coffee shop in Wimbledon, where their chance encounter led to an unexpected relationship despite their different backgrounds. When they first met, Kipp had no idea who Collins was or that she played professional tennis, and he preferred golf over tennis. Collins actually loved this about him because she wanted to spend time with someone outside the tennis world rather than being surrounded by industry people.

The couple split in October 2025, and Collins talked about her single status on The Gay Tennis Podcast. She was lighthearted about the situation, mentioning that if The Bachelorette wanted to put her on their show, they would have to pay her a significant amount of money. She didn’t seem upset about the breakup and joked that she was ready to try new things to meet people, exploring different ways to find someone new.

Most recently, she posted an Instagram story with a screenshot of her dating profile. She captioned it: “Get on a dating app they said… Someone needs to take my phone from me should i add anything else in there?”

What’s actually interesting in this screenshot is her profile’s bio. Instead of keeping it brief, Collins wrote a long bio talking about her profession, her dating goals, and her dating preferences. The message was already too long, and she jokingly asked her fans what else she should add to it, creating a funny moment.

A Shift Towards Online Dating Platforms in Professional Tennis

Collins is not the first tennis player to talk openly about dating, as Canadian player Leylah Fernandez made headlines earlier this year with a dating experiment that caught the attention of the entire tennis world. The 23-year-old had never been on a date before, so she decided to try something different and invited her Instagram followers to message her for a one-hour date in Montreal, turning to her fans to help her find someone special.

Her dad and coach Jorge Fernandez came up with the idea, thinking it would be fun and meaningful for her to try dating in her hometown, where she felt most comfortable and supported. Fernandez received more than 100 messages on the first day, which showed significant interest, and she carefully looked through them before selecting one person who seemed particularly interesting to her.

Before agreeing to meet him, she had her family check him out to make sure he was genuine and had good intentions, taking proper precautions to ensure her safety throughout the process.

Things worked out well for Fernandez, and she recently told her followers that her relationship was progressing nicely with the person she selected through this unconventional method. When asked about her relationship status on Instagram, she responded, “It’s good,” a short but telling response that conveyed she was content with how things were moving forward and that the experiment had resulted in something meaningful.
