Carlos Alcaraz is the biggest name in men’s tennis right now, ruling the ATP Tour with his dominant performance. His youngest brother, Jaime Alcaraz, is on the same path after recently winning the Challenger event in Murcia in the sub-15 category. This excellent performance from the 14-year-old inevitably drew comparisons with his brother.
The young Spaniard addressed these questions, sharing his thoughts on the comparisons.
Jaime Alcaraz Reflects on Comparisons With Carlos Alcaraz
Jaime recently made headlines for his heroics in his hometown of Murcia, Spain, where he defeated fellow Spaniard Rodrigo Burgos 6-1, 6-2 in the final to lift the under-15 title at the Challenger event.
The event was organized on the outdoor clay courts alongside the ATP Challenger. Following this massive win, an interviewer asked Jaime about his performance and focused mainly on the conversations comparing both Alcaraz Garfia brothers.

The 14-year-old addressed the question very honestly, saying, “Yeah, well, the truth is, I don’t listen to the people who compare me. I just consider Carlitos like a brother, not as a tennis role model.”
Despite being the world No. 1, Carlos is considered by Jaime as his older brother first rather than a sporting icon. This shows that, despite being a tennis-centered family, relationships come first over accomplishments.
Jaime also talked about the final and his performance, saying, “The truth is that no match was easy. But I’ve felt fine, to be honest. I mean, at first, my ankle hurt a little because I’m a little injured. But that’s why I played so well and gave it my all,” reflecting on his championship performance.
Despite his young age and very little court experience, the youngest Alcaraz Garfia brother showed maturity well beyond his years. He said, “Well, little by little I’m growing a lot more as a player, and as a person, it really makes me very happy. I always say there’s no rush. So little by little, I’m improving.”

This is not the only achievement of Jaime’s career, as he lifted the 2023 Rafa Nadal Tour trophy in the sub-12 category. Interestingly, Carlos himself won titles on the same circuit twice: first in 2015 in the under-12 category and again in 2016 in the sub-14 category.
Given a similar career trajectory in the early days of both stars, it would be interesting to see how much Jaime develops and improves. All of Spain is following the teenager, backing him with immense support as he prepares for his ATP Tour debut in the coming years.

As for Carlos Alcaraz, he suffered a disappointing third-round exit at the 2026 Miami Open, losing to 36th-ranked Sebastian Korda. He was one of the favorites to lift the title after his Indian Wells semifinal defeat against Daniil Medvedev, but could not withstand the American.
After a frustrating three-set match on March 22, Alcaraz suffered a 3-6, 7-5, 4-6 exit, ending his campaign at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. The world No. 1 will now turn his focus to the upcoming clay-court season.
