Shedeur Sanders has yet to make his debut for the Cleveland Browns as he continues to back up Dillon Gabriel. They have severely struggled with one rookie quarterback this year, but have declined to give their other one an opportunity.
This situation has sparked rumors that Sanders could potentially be moved to a new team ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. A Super Bowl contender this year has emerged as a potential destination.
Shedeur Sanders Linked to Super Bowl Contender Ahead of 2025 NFL Trade Deadline
The Browns’ reluctance to give Sanders a chance as their starter is notable considering Gabriel’s massive struggles. He ranks as just the 37th quarterback in PFSN’s Impact Rankings this season.
This contributes to the rumors that they could potentially seek a deal for him before the 2025 NFL trade deadline, theoretically in exchange for draft picks amid their rebuild. PFSN’s Ayden Stroupe recently suggested the Los Angeles Rams as a potential destination.
>”The Rams could be the ideal landing spot for Sanders to develop into a future starter. With Matthew Stafford still firmly in command, he would be under no pressure to start immediately. That situation would allow him to learn directly from a Super Bowl-winning and future Hall of Fame quarterback,” stated Stroupe.
The Rams offer numerous favorable factors that could potentially develop him into their future starter, whenever the day comes that the aging Stafford eventually retires. They have an offense absolutely loaded with weapons, and head coach Sean McVay is one of the most respected offensive coaches in the entire NFL.
Their current active roster includes Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett IV, so their long-term plan at quarterback is unclear. Garoppolo is already 34 years old, and Bennett has yet to appear in a game during his career so far. Stafford will turn 38 before next season, so his days could be numbered at this point.

Sanders would be under no immediate demand to play right away with the Rams in the mix as Super Bowl contenders this season. He could potentially develop as a depth option for now before eventually being a candidate to be their starter in the future.
His situation with the Browns is much different, as he is currently an option to replace Gabriel. This puts expectations on him to perform immediately, but with the Rams, he would have much more time to develop as a prospect first, which could be beneficial to his long-term success.
