The Kansas City Chiefs fell to 6-7 after being defeated by the Houston Texans 17-10 on Sunday night. Although the Chiefs have had clear issues all season, no one was ready to give up on them because of their head coach and quarterback. However, the loss on Sunday night all but knocks them out of the playoff race.
Following the loss, one former Super Bowl champion is declaring this version of the Chiefs dynasty over.
Damien Woody Claims This Version of the Chiefs Dynasty is Over
On Monday morning’s episode of Get Up, Damien Woody claimed this is the end of this version of the Chiefs dynasty. He said,
“Greeny, I’m here to tell ya stick a fork in the Chiefs, they are done. The version of the dynasty is over. It’s been a hell of a run, but the Chiefs have been playing with fire now for about two or three years.”
Woody knows a thing or two about dynasties, as he was around for the start of the New England Patriots dynasty in the early 2000s.

While this sounds crazy since Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are still with the Chiefs, it does look like reality. This season nothing has gone right for Kansas City. Despite having what looks to be a stacked wide receiver room, it has underperformed. Sure, Rashee Rice missed the first six games. Xavier Worthy went down early, too. But even after both returned, the passing offense has continued to struggle.
That’s not to mention that the Chiefs’ run game has been poor all season. Even with these issues on offense, PFSN’s offensive impact metric ranks the Chiefs as the eighth-best offense with an impact score of 82.2.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kansas City has failed to create pressure. Through 13 games, they have only recorded 25 sacks. Their inability to rush the passer has contributed to them being ranked 12th on PFSN’s defensive impact metric with an impact score of 79.0.
The Chiefs have some major holes to fill this offseason to get back to being Super Bowl contenders in 2026. Their first order of business is finding an impact player on their defensive line. Ideally, George Karlaftis provides the ass rush after they gave him a four-year $88 million contract extension in the 2025 offseason.
Offensively, they need to add juice to their running back room. Although they have won championships relying on the pass in the past, it seems they need to supplement at least an average running game.
