Former Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has made a name for himself through his managerial stints in England and Scotland. He is currently in charge of Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah and has recently been seen with a rifle in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Qadsiah’s Rodgers Goes Viral With Saudi Founding Day Tribute
After ending his second spell at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic last October, Rodgers was hired as Al-Qadsiah’s head coach on Dec. 16, 2025. The Northern Irishman has relished a fine start in Saudi Arabia, overseeing a 13-game unbeaten run since his arrival.
In a video posted on Al-Qadsiah’s social media accounts, the former Liverpool and Leicester City boss was in a celebratory mood about the Saudi Arabia Founding Day. He was dressed in traditional Saudi clothing and wielded a rifle earlier this Sunday, Feb. 22.

Remarking on his attire and the state of Saudi Arabia’s 299th anniversary, Rodgers said on Al-Qadsiah’s recent video, “I think it probably looks a lot cooler on other people. But no, I think today is about respecting Founding Day here in Saudi Arabia. Of course, I will always respectfully wear it. And yeah, it feels nice and cool.”
“I want to give my sincere congratulations to all of the people of Saudi Arabia. Saudi has a real rich heritage and a really exciting future ahead. I’ve only been here two months, but I feel a real, real peace with the people here, the kindness of everyone, and like I say, there’s a really exciting future ahead for Saudi Arabia,” the 53-year-old added.
Rodgers, who has helped Al-Qadsiah launch an unlikely title charge this season, also expressed optimism about the Saudi Pro League’s future, hailing its players and coaches.
“I think the (footballing) progress is year on year. I think, from watching it a few years ago when it started the league, to participating in the league now, and I’m pretty sure over the coming years it’s only going to grow and get better and better. So I’ve been really impressed by the standard of the league, some fantastic players, outstanding coaches, and that will, I’m sure, continue over the coming years,” Rodgers concluded.
The former Chelsea Reserves head coach’s current team are in fourth spot in the Saudi Pro League standings. They are on 50 points from 22 league matches, trailing leaders Al-Nassr by just five points. They will face Al-Ettifaq in a home clash on Monday, Feb. 23.
