Arsenal Stars React As Gabriel Magalhães Mocks Spurs Star Richarlison on Instagram After 4–1 Derby Win

Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhães has continued his trend of taunting Tottenham Hotspur ace Richarlison following a recent 4-1 win.

Arsenal registered a statement win over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League away contest earlier this Sunday, Feb. 22. And Gunners center-back Gabriel Magalhães has taunted Spurs striker Richarlison in the aftermath of the north London derby.

Now, Gabriel’s club teammates have reacted to the Brazilian defender’s social media post.

The Gunners, who recorded a 2-2 away league stalemate at Wolverhampton Wanderers last Wednesday, bounced back with a 4-1 away win at Spurs. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres scored two goals each, while Randal Kolo Muani netted once for the hosts.

However, the derby result could have been different had Spurs star Kolo Muani’s disallowed goal stood in the second half. Gabriel was judged to have been pushed by Kolo Muani, who was on the receiving end of a last-man tackle by the Gunners star in the first half.

After both decisions went in Gabriel’s favor and his side registered a vital win in the league title race, the Arsenal defender took to Instagram to relish in the derby triumph.

Gabriel, who played the entire 90 minutes of the derby, posted an image of him holding up a four of hearts card, a direct reference to the recent result. He even tagged Richarlison in the image, extending the Brazilian pair’s lighthearted rivalry off the pitch.

While Gunners ace Declan Rice reacted with a number of crying-laughing and heart emojis, Gabriel Martinelli wrote, “Complete boss,” on his teammate’s Instagram post. Gunners star Piero Hincapie also commented, “Complete boss,” with an emoji of a chef.

On the other hand, new Arsenal signing Cristhian Mosquera also commented with a host of crying-laughing emojis. Ex-Gunners attacker Nicolas Pépé reacted with three crying emojis, and ex-Gunners left-back Nuno Tavares commented with one crying emoji.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy insisted Kolo Muani’s disallowed goal should have stood, as the Frenchman’s contact on Gabriel was relatively minimal.

“The reality is, if you love football and enjoy watching it, you don’t expect 6’4″ center-halves to be falling over. But, to be fair to Gabriel, he knows generally that if you get a touch in the back and you go over, you’re going to get it, so it’s a kind of chicken and egg thing. The referees have got to be stronger,” Murphy said on BBC’s Match of the Day.

Following their latest 4-1 victory, Arsenal are atop the Premier League table with 61 points from 28 games and have a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. Tottenham, on the other hand, remains in 16th place with just 29 points from 27 matches.
