Should you select Rhamondre Stevenson in fantasy drafts?

The 2022 fantasy football season is truly underway as drafts fire off across the nation, meaning now is the time to dive into New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson’s ADP to determine whether or not fantasy managers are receiving a value on draft day. A potential breakout running back for fantasy in 2022, where should Stevenson come off the board in upcoming fantasy drafts?

Rhamondre Stevenson ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?

As we draw closer to the prime draft season for fantasy football, Stevenson currently has an ADP of 102, coming off the board as the RB36. For comparison, Damien Harris (RB27) is going around 24 picks sooner (ADP 78).

In PFN’s 2022 fantasy football redraft rankings, Stevenson is currently the RB28 with an ADP of 61, showing a more bullish outlook. I have Stevenson as my RB25 and 60th overall player.

If there was someone I was wrong about last year, it was Stevenson. The rusher the Patriots drafted is not the one we saw at Oklahoma, and that’s a great thing. He’s also likely not getting enough credit for last season.

Following James White’s retirement, Stevenson could easily see more receiving volume and is the more explosive back between him and Harris. Not only that, but there are also rumors of a potential trade of Harris, similar to what they did with Sony Michel.

Stevenson is the more dynamic rusher and has a higher ceiling compared to Harris. As a rookie, he was fourth in yards after contact per attempt (2.7) and was second in broken tackles per attempt (0.55). Add in he can catch the ball out of the backfield, and Stevenson has a well-rounded profile. As an RB3, Stevenson is a solid investment that I feel outscored Harris. Anytime Harris, by injury or by trade, is not available, Stevenson will have top-10 upside.

Rhamondre Stevenson’s projected fantasy value in 2022

Stevenson, while there were flashes, didn’t have a season to write home about. Playing second fiddle to Harris, Stevenson averaged just 9.6 PPR/game (RB42). But there is hope for the future.

After escaping the Bill Belichick doghouse in Week 9, Stevenson totaled 498 rushing yards (4.9 ypa) and four touchdowns, which put him on a 17-game pace of 1,209 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. In the two games Harris missed that Stevenson did not, Stevenson averaged 16.2 ppg. Those are legitimate RB1 numbers.

The only knock on his profile was the lack of involvement in the passing game, recording a 5.5% target share. But that is apparently not a concern for the Patriots as they view Stevenson as capable of filling the third-down role vacated by White.

As New England transitions to what their offense will look like without Josh McDaniels calling the plays, there is room to shake things up a touch. And Stevenson, by all accounts, has the momentum. While never an easy thing to do, if I have to trust a Patriots RB for fantasy in 2022, it would be Stevenson, who I view as a value at his current ADP.
