The whole world watched and waited to see where Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, would be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Many mock drafts had Shedeur going early in the first round, but fans were shocked to see him last until the fifth round.
That wasn’t the only Sanders hoping to hear his name called during the recent draft. Deion’s other son, Shilo, was considered a possible late-round prospect, but it never happened.
Instead, he was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he performs well this summer, Sanders, a safety, will be able to earn a spot on the Buccaneers’ roster. Sanders recently said he is excited about this next chapter in his life.
Shilo Sanders Excited for His Next Big Move
In a recent TikTok reposted on X, Sanders said he is focused on preparing for Tampa. He is putting in the hard work now so he can make the final 53-man roster.
“I’m getting ready before I even get there, so I can get there in shape. I could run all day. I’m just feeling good,” said Sanders in the video that was filmed in the gym.
Sanders said that the family has moved around quite a bit thanks to his father’s career in the NFL and then his switch to college coaching. This frequent change has helped him be more resilient, and that’s part of why he feels so confident about the Buccaneers.
“I feel real good about Tampa. This is a new place for me to go. I’ve been really blessed with a whole life of change, so this next change upcoming is cool, looking forward to it. I’m ready to get on the road. We’ve got the moving companies coming this weekend. Should pick out a spot tonight,” shared Sanders of his impending move. “So Tampa, I’m gonna be there soon.”
Is the Sanders Family NFL Ready?
The Sanders name carries weight in the NFL. Deion is a Hall of Famer, and Shedeur was considered one of the top quarterback prospects in his draft class. Despite that, there have been many questions about Sheduer’s ceiling, and Shilo has been discounted throughout the offseason.
He wasn’t considered “elite” enough to warrant an NFL Combine invitation, so he hired the company that does their timing to record his 40-yard dash. While those times weren’t officially released, at Colorado’s Pro Day, Sanders ran a 4.52.
According to his NFL Draft profile, he must eliminate some of his inconsistencies if he wants to make the final roster cuts. He is a hard hitter who displays aggression but is not a consistent playmaker.
He has also missed time due to injuries, which is concerning, especially because he is already 25 years old. However, if he can stay healthy, he does have enough talent to be a bright spot on a special-teams unit.
