The Seattle Seahawks are having an impressive 2025 NFL season so far. They currently have a 6-2 record, which is tied for the best in the NFC ahead of Week 10.
Their success this year likely contributed to them being buyers ahead of the trade deadline. They recently cashed in some of their 2026 draft picks in exchange for a star wide receiver.

Seahawks Draft Picks in 2026 After Making a Move at the Trade Deadline
The Seahawks became buyers at the 2025 NFL trade deadline after acquiring Rashid Shaheed in a deal with the New Orleans Saints. They sent back fourth and fifth-round picks in the 2026 Draft in exchange for a new weapon to add to their wide receivers.
The franchise is expressing confidence in its current status as a championship contender, as it will enter the second half of the season tied for the best record in its conference. They had to forfeit future assets to do so, leaving them with just the following picks in the next draft:
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 6
The Seahawks have managed to hang onto their top three picks, but have just one more selection in the final four rounds. This is clearly a gamble in relation to their long-term stability, but it also improves their chances of making a deep postseason run this season.
Shaheed has been impressive for the Saints this year, despite playing in one of the worst offenses in the NFL. He has been catching passes from Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough, but still ranks as the 36th wide receiver in PFSN’s Impact Rankings through nine weeks.

He has outperformed his teammate Chris Olave, who ranks 41st this season, demonstrating his value and why he was desirable for the Seahawks. He now joins a much better offense this year, where he will have a legitimate opportunity to thrive.
Sam Darnold will be his new quarterback, who ranks 5th in his position, and he will join top-ranked wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in their offense. He should be expected to serve as their WR2, considering the investment they just made to acquire him.
This will likely move Cooper Kupp and Tory Horton down their depth chart, but the move significantly increases the depth of their passing attack. Shaheed has turned in 44 receptions for 499 yards in New Orleans, but playing with a significantly better quarterback and on a contending team could elevate his output to the next level.
