Ravens Hire Jesse Minter as New HC

Jesse Minter is the next head coach of the Ravens. Minter has big shoes to fill and plenty of expectations to meet. Harbaugh brought a Super Bowl to Baltimore and playoff berths in almost every season. Lamar Jackson is in the prime of his career, and the pressure to win the big game is mounting.

Minter is no stranger to Baltimore. He coached under Harbaugh from 2017 to 2020, working with the defense, and now he’s the big man on campus. It won’t be easy, but the Ravens are ready to trust in him.

Minter was most recently the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers under Jim Harbaugh and was also a part of the Michigan Wolverines that won the national championship.

Going with a first-time head coach with the talented roster that the Ravens have is a bold call. But the AFC North franchise knows a thing or two about hiring head coaches and went with the inexperienced Minter anyway.

Minter was a hot commodity on the market and earned one of the top jobs. He caught the eyes of the Ravens with his performance operating the Chargers’ defense. The Chargers’ defense ranked 8th in the league according to PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric. Now, Minter will have the task of turning around the Baltimore defense that heavily disappointed in 2025.

The new Ravens’ head coach has weapons to deploy. Jackson is one of the best QBs in the NFL when he’s rolling, Derrick Henry is a dominant force in the backfield, and there are multiple All-Pros on the defensive side with Kyle Hamilton and Roquan Smith.

The powerhouses in the AFC will be reloading and ready to assert their dominance in the postseason yet again. The Ravens will have competition, and it’s on Minter’s shoulders now to get this team over the hump in the postseason after years of unfortunate endings.
