The Baltimore Ravens’ troubling start to the 2025 season just got more worrisome with the latest injury report.
A 1-3 record through four games was not what many around the NFL pegged for Baltimore coming into this year. However, things are going from bad to worse as a massive piece of their defense is set to miss a few weeks.
Ravens Look for Answers As Already Struggling Defense Loses Star Playmaker
Following their third loss and third time allowing 30-plus points in four games, the Ravens got hit with news that linebacker Roquan Smith will be on the mend. The three-time All-Pro went down during the Ravens’ defeat to Kansas City, sustaining a hamstring strain, as reported by insider Ian Rapoport.

“Ravens All-Pro LB Roquan Smith was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, sources say, and he’ll miss a few weeks,” wrote Rapoport. “Another Baltimore injury to its maligned defense.”
While the injury to the three-time Pro Bowler is undoubtedly the most devastating to Baltimore, the Ravens are also dealing with a handful of other bumps.
Ravens Defense Hit Hard With Injury Bug
Head coach John Harbaugh addressed the media Monday where he revealed the term of two other Ravens’ recovery times.
“Nnamdi is going to be out for the year. Broderick will be the four week IR.”

“[Defensive tackle] Nnamdi [Madubuike] is going to be out for the year [on IR]. [Defensive end] Broderick [Washington] will be the four-week IR,” the coach said, updating the media.
“I got a pretty good feeling on all the injuries with different guys right now where we’re at,” said Harbaugh. “I’m really not commenting on those things today; we’ll comment on them later in the week, a little bit more.”
Regardless of their unlucky and untimely injuries, Baltimore’s defense has been flat-out awful so far this season — they have already allowed 132 total points through four weeks, an average of 33 points each game.

The club’s defensive coordinator, Zachary Orr, is in his ninth NFL season as a coach and his second serving as the Ravens’ DC. Looking back to just a season ago under Orr, using the same metric, Baltimore finished ninth overall in defensive impact. Their rating of a C+ and a score of 78.3Â are miles better than their pitiful statistics this season.
With a defense laboring several key injuries, can Orr and Harbaugh weather the storm to make the Ravens’ defense elite once again?
