NFL Trade Rumors: Rams Rule Out Interest in Acquiring $96M Superstar To Help Matthew Stafford

Why aren't the Rams interested in one of the top wide receivers in the NFL? Find out more about the offseason situation here.

The Los Angeles Rams sported the most dangerous offense in the NFL last season, posting a league-best 92.3 PFSN Offense Impact Score, featuring MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford.

However, they fell short in the NFC Championship Game at the hands of Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks. With the team said to be in win-now mode, fans expect the front office to be aggressive this offseason, which made its decision on this receiver particularly strange.

Rams Not Interested in WR A.J. Brown

One of the most discussed topics this offseason has been the future of A.J. Brown. The experienced wideout still has plenty of good football left in him, but it seemingly won’t be played with the Philadelphia Eagles.

While speculation swirled that the New England Patriots were the frontrunners for the $96 million star’s services, the Rams emerged as the frontrunners. However, despite advanced talks, a deal ultimately fell through.

“The Rams have loomed as a strong Brown suitor at times this spring,” Pro Football Rumors’ Adam La Rose wrote. “[Ian] Rapoport adds Los Angeles was the three-time Pro Bowler’s preferred destination, but he will not be heading there. Despite the fact previous talks between the Eagles and Rams went further than they did with the Patriots, Rapoport confirms Los Angeles is no longer in the running for Brown.”

The Rams reportedly told wide receiver Davante Adams that they were willing to trade him, given how close they were to getting a deal done for Brown.

LA has long been rumored to be in the market for another wideout this offseason. Uncertainty surrounding Puka Nacua’s off-field issues, namely his lawsuit and rehab, puts the team’s deep receiving corps at risk.

While head coach Sean McVay still has wideout Davante Adams and several tight ends at his disposal, in order to make another strong run at the Super Bowl, he would like to have that one-two punch out wide that he had with Nacua and Adams in 2025.

Additionally, if Nacua’s personal issues stay contained, LA will have three superstar wide receivers, making it the most loaded position group we’ve seen since the 2013 Denver Broncos.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero, on the other hand, suggested that Stefon Diggs would also be a fit at the Rams. The wideout put up an 87.0 PFSN WR Impact score last season and would be a great asset in McVay’s system.

Whether the Rams manage to add that one final piece to bolster the offense ahead of the 2026 season will be interesting to see.
