Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers had to wait until the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft to hear his name called. How much did the slide cost him in earnings as he signed a rookie contract with his new team?
The Miami Dolphins opted to draft Ewers with the 231st pick in the 2025 draft. Miami had signed one-time first-round pick Zach Wilson to a contract in free agency earlier this year, while starter Tua Tagovailoa makes an average of over $53 million on his four-year deal.
Ewers spent three seasons at the University of Texas after he’d been one of the most coveted high school quarterbacks in recent memory. He had originally reclassified to enroll early at Ohio State, before transferring to Texas. The QB threw for 9,103 yards for the Longhorns while tossing 64 career touchdowns.

What Is Quinn Ewers’ Salary and Net Worth?
Per Spotrac, Quinn Ewers will sign a four-year, $4.3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins.
The former Longhorns quarterback will get a signing bonus of $131,331, with an annual earnings of $1,082,833.
Ewers’ NIL Deals and Valuation
According to On3 Sports, Ewers’ NIL valuation is $4.5 million. As the No. 1 prospect out of high school, the Longhorns quarterback told Jon Gruden that he was handed a $1.4 million memorabilia deal in his sophomore year of high school.
In order to cash in on that deal, Ewers had to leave and enroll early at Ohio State, as there was no way he was going to be allowed to sign a contract for that amount of money as a high school student.
During his college career, Ewers has signed various NIL deals, including Panini, Dr. Pepper, New Era, and Beats By Dre. He posted a paid advertisement with Hulu on his Instagram in August 2024, sharing the collaboration with his followers.
On the weekend of the draft, Ewers posted a promotion with TacoDeli on his ‘X’ account. Quinn Ewers now has 271,000 followers on Instagram and 63,000 on X.
After being drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Quinn Ewers will now compete with two past first-round picks for playing time. Wilson currently slots in as the Miami Dolphins’ backup, but Ewers will have a chance to battle it out with him for a role behind Tua. He’ll get his first reps at practice when rookie minicamp begins May 9.
The Dolphins only have three quarterbacks on the roster following the draft. While they might add a fourth as a free agent, Ewers has a great chance of making the roster if he impresses coach Mike McDaniel in the coming months.
