Bears’ Booker Has Lighter Wallet After Jordan Love Hit
On a play-action play with about 8 minutes, 17 seconds to go in the second quarter, Love found himself stepping up in the pocket to avoid a sack by Bears defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr.
However, in doing so, he was met by a rusher, Booker, who collided with Love with some helmet-to-helmet contact. Booker was able to get off his block by Packers offensive lineman Darian Kinnard.
A flag was immediately thrown, and as they went to the ground, Booker attempted to avoid putting his body weight on Love.
Now, we have information regarding Booker’s punishment for the hit.
“The NFL fined Bears DE Austin Booker $11,636 total for two illegal hits last week on Packers QB Jordan Love,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network wrote on X started to say. He said the hit included a “helmet-to-helmet shot that knocked Love [sic] of the game.”
“Love remains in concussion protocol and is out tonight against the Ravens,” Pelissero added.

In relief of Love, backup quarterback Malik Willis played well, completing 9 of 11 passes (81.8%) for 121 yards, one touchdown, and 11 yards per attempt. However, the Packers lost in overtime.
Love has led the Packers to an 82.8 score in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, which is sixth in the NFL. As mentioned, he’s on this week’s injury report, which also includes Willis and Packers running back Josh Jacobs. That said, Willis and Jacobs will play.
As for Booker, he’s logged 394 total snaps this season. He has 20 pressures, 18 solo tackles, one forced fumble, and 3.5 sacks.
With the Detroit Lions’ loss on Christmas Day, the Packers have secured a playoff spot. In this game, though, they’ll have a chance to play spoiler for the Ravens. With a loss here or a Pittsburgh Steelers win, the Ravens will concede the AFC North to the Steelers and miss the postseason.
