Puka Nacua turned in another impressive performance for the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15 on Thursday Night Football, despite losing to the Seattle Seahawks. Neither his individual statistics nor the outcome were the main topic when he spoke with the media following the game. He was instead mostly asked about his controversial comments about the NFL refs.
Puka Nacua Responds to Controversial Comments
Nacua came under fire prior to the Rams’ Week 16 TNF game against the Seahawks for some controversial comments he made about the NFL refs during a livestream appearance with Adin Ross and N3on. He explained that he believes the refs sometimes intentionally make incorrect calls to be on the TV broadcast and draw more attention to themselves.
The superstar wide receiver apologized for his take before the game, but doubled down on his opinion after it. Almost immediately after the game, he posted on his X account that the refs from the game essentially validated controversial comments.
He deleted the post shortly after, but was asked by the media to clarify his stance and respond to being recently labeled as a distraction for the Rams.
“Just a moment of frustration after a tough and tense game like that … Coach has echoed that he’s always in continuous support of me, just disappointed in some of the actions that are distracting my teammates … I’ll learn from it, I don’t want to be a distraction … There’s definitely some noise but I wouldn’t say [I’m] a distraction … You think of the calls that some guys get, and you wish you could get some of those,” stated Nacua.

His post after the game likely came from the locker room, as it came quickly following the final. He implied that the refs made bad calls during the game, justifying his point from the previous live stream, but has since deleted the post.
“Can you say I was wrong. Appreciate you stripes for your contribution,” shared Nacua.

He admitted he was frustrated with the loss and the overall way that the game played out in a pivotal NFC West matchup with massive playoff implications. The Seahawks took over the top spot in the division, and also put them in control of the top seed in the NFC for the upcoming playoffs.
He still turned in an incredible performance amid the controversy, totaling 12 receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He also sits at the top of PFSN’s Impact Rankings for all wide receivers this season.
