The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks battled it out in a high-stakes Thursday Night Football matchup at Lumen Field for the division and conference lead. The game was decided by the slimmest of margins, going to overtime before the Seahawks narrowly pulled out a 38–37 victory in what was one of the most dramatic finishes this season.
Officiating quickly became a focal point after a Rams touchdown was wiped out in the first quarter, a call that loomed large in such a tight contest. Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua, who had already called out NFL officials earlier this week during a livestream with Adin Ross and N3on, doubled down on his criticism after the loss.
Puka Nacua Speaks Out After Costly Officiating Decision
The controversy stemmed from the first quarter, when the Rams appeared to score on a one-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to tight end Terrance Ferguson. The score was wiped out due to an ineligible man downfield penalty on guard Justin Dedich, a call that immediately drew frustration from Los Angeles.
Head coach Sean McVay and Stafford both voiced their displeasure, while Amazon Prime Video rules analyst Terry McAulay stated on the broadcast that it “really isn’t a foul.”
Although the game eventually went to overtime, and Nacua himself scored in OT for his second touchdown of the night, Seattle responded with a Sam Darnold-to-Jaxon Smith-Njigba connection and converted the two-point attempt to secure a 38–37 win.
After the loss, Nacua took to social media with a now-deleted post sarcastically thanking the officiating crew: “Can you say I was wrong. Appreciate you stripes for your contribution, lol.”
The 24-year-old clarified postgame that the tweet stemmed from a lack of awareness and was simply him venting his frustration, echoing comments he had made earlier in the week on a livestream.
“The refs are the worst… They want to be on TV too. You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you guys just saw me on Sunday Night Football? That wasn’t P.I., but I called it.'”

Nacua also recently faced backlash for referencing an offensive celebration during the stream, which many deemed antisemitic; he later apologized and clarified that he was unaware of its connotations, with McVay also confirming the same postgame.

Despite the surrounding drama, Nacua’s on-field performance continues to stand out. He finished the night with 12 receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns, pushing his season totals to 1,367 receiving yards and six scores.
He currently ranks No. 1 in PFSN’s WR Impact metric (99.6 WRi), reinforcing his status as one of the league’s most productive receivers.
