After a resurgent year of going 14-3 in the regular season, the New England Patriots made it all the way to the Super Bowl before losing to the Seattle Seahawks.
With the arrival of the offseason, the Patriots are predicted to add a free agent wide receiver with 21 touchdowns to bolster their offense.
New England Patriots Predicted To Sign NFC North Wide Receiver
The Patriots already have one of the best offenses in the league, as they finished in PFSN’s NFL Offensive Impact Metric (OFFi) for the regular season with an impact score of 86.6 and a letter grade of B, ranking them second among all NFL teams. However, in the Super Bowl, the team managed only 13 points.
The team could benefit strongly by adding another wide receiver to Drake Maye’s arsenal, and they’ve been linked to one wide receiver from the NFC North.
PFSN’s Jacob Westendorf wrote about the top landing spots for former Green Bay Packer wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who is a free agent. Here’s his case for the Patriots to go after the seasoned receiver:
“The Patriots are working through the sting of losing the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks and are now focused on getting back to the big game and winning it. One place the Patriots could improve is their weaponry around Drake Maye… Doubs is a better player than Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte, both of whom were top targets for Drake Maye this season… Doubs could be a solid addition as a veteran for them.”

Doubs was selected by the Packers with the 132nd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Nevada. Through four years, the 25-year-old has caught 202 receptions for 2424 yards and 21 touchdowns.
In PFSN’s NFL Wide Receiver Impact Metric (WRi), Doubs’ best year with the Packers was actually 2025, where he ranked as the league’s 29th best receiver and finished with an impact score of 77.9 and a letter grade of C+. In 16 games, he caught 55 passes for 724 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
Here’s how Doubs compares to other Patriots wide receivers in WRi:
Stefon Diggs
In his first season with the team, Stefon Diggs proved to be a valuable target for sophomore quarterback Maye. In PFSN’s WRi, he ranked fourth in the league with an impact score of 87.0 and a letter grade of B+.
