The Green Bay Packers entered this season as one of the most intriguing teams in the NFL. After quarterback Jordan Love led them to the playoffs in his first two years as a full-time starter, expectations were soaring for the team to make a deep postseason run.
Then, a blockbuster trade to acquire Micah Parsons immediately changed the franchise’s trajectory, raising the stakes even higher. To turn those championship hopes into a reality, one analyst believes the team needs to explore another trade to add a key weapon for their franchise quarterback.
What Move Could Push the Packers Over the Top?
As things currently stand, there isn’t much for Green Bay to complain about. While they hit a speed bump after an electric start to the 2025-26 season, they appear to have found their footing again over the last few weeks.
The defense, ranked ninth on PFSN’s Defense Impact, has started to show improvement, especially with Parsons becoming comfortable in the new system. The real standout, however, has been the offense, which ranks fifth on PFSN’s Offense Impact.
However, this offensive success has come without superstar production from the wide receiver group. As it currently stands, no wide receiver on the team has more than 350 yards, a low bar to clear after seven games.
As a result, Josh Weil of PFSN, in his list of top trade candidates, suggested the team could target Calvin Ridley from the Tennessee Titans. The move aims to improve their receiving corps and provide Love with a proven downfield threat.
This potential trade makes sense given the Titans’ current situation. After firing Head Coach Brian Callahan midway through the season, the tides have not turned for Tennessee. With the team shifting its focus to the 2026 NFL Draft, a productive veteran like Ridley might be wasted there.
Ridley has built a career on consistent production, recording three seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards in his last three full years. His career totals include 5,665 receiving yards, 140 rushing yards, and 41 total touchdowns.
“With Ridley being on a deal that has an out this year, and him not having built much rapport with QB Cam Ward, it makes sense to move on from him,” Weil wrote. “He will not bring back a significant asset, given his salary, but he can be instrumental on a team with a good game plan that tries to maximize his potential.”
Although he has not produced at the same level as in years past, ranking 54th on PFSN’s WR Impact, the blame doesn’t fall entirely on him. The Titans’ offense is among the worst in the league. A change of scenery, with a dramatic improvement in quarterback play and offensive scheme, could catapult him back into the conversation as a top-flight receiver.
