The Green Bay Packers, despite trading for one of the best defenders in the league in Micah Parsons, are currently sitting at second place in the NFC North behind the Detroit Lions. While this isn’t bad, they hoped to be among the leaders in the entire NFC, and that hasn’t panned out thus far.
They looked incredible through the first two weeks, but things have calmed down, and they have struggled to put everything together. Fortunately for Green Bay, however, there may be a trade they can make to help push them over the edge into being true contenders.
Who can the Packers add to Help Bolster Their Offense Ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline?
With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 4, PFSN listed one blockbuster trade that every team should make before the deadline. One of those trades had the Packers acquiring veteran receiver Calvin Ridley from the Tennessee Titans.
From the article: “The Green Bay Packers are built to be very good for now and for the foreseeable future. Still, with Jayden Reed’s injury and Matthew Golden looking like he needs a little more time to develop at the highest level, getting someone like Calvin Ridley would be worthwhile in this offense, given that the acquisition cost should be pretty reasonable.”
With Green Bay’s need to add another receiver, Ridley could be the perfect fit. Not only is he on the Titans, a team that isn’t competing for anything, but he’s coming off back-to-back seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards with two different teams.
This success across multiple teams should instill confidence in the Packers that they would be able to succeed with them as well. Additionally, Jordan Love would be the best quarterback he has played with in recent years, which could give him the opportunity to play even better than in seasons past.
As if that wasn’t enough, Ridley is coming off his best performance of the season, in which he posted 131 yards, a great sign that he still has it.

The Packers’ offense is currently ranked as the No. 10 in the NFL according to PFSN’s Offense Impact, which is certainly good enough to be a playoff team. That said, adding an extra weapon could be enough to push them into the top five, which would confirm them as contenders.
It’s still too early to say that they wouldn’t be contenders without a trade, but it’s almost certain that trading for a guy like Ridley wouldn’t hurt their chances at a title.
