Packers HC Matt LaFleur Makes Feelings Clear on Josh Jacobs’ Injury Ahead of Week 10

While star quarterback Jordan Love may headline the Green Bay Packers offense, head coach Matt LaFleur has emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced attack. This commitment to the run means the team’s success heavily relies on running back Josh Jacobs being at his best. However, a lingering calf issue has recently compromised Jacobs’ workload.

Although he has remained on the field, the Packers have carefully managed his reps. After a tough loss to the Carolina Panthers, fans in Green Bay are eager to see their star running back return to full strength. In a recent update, LaFleur provided some insight into Jacobs’ status moving forward.

What Is Josh Jacobs’ Status for Week 10?

The Packers have dealt with a frustrating string of injuries to several key offensive contributors during the 2025-26 season. Breakout tight end Tucker Kraft tore his ACL in Week 9, while receivers Jayden Reed and Christian Watson have both missed significant time. Additionally, Dontayvion Wicks is hoping to make his return after being sidelined since Week 7.

Jacobs also appeared on the injury report in Week 7, but he has managed to play in every game this season. The running back’s availability is not in doubt for the upcoming Week 10 matchup, when Green Bay hosts the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. With serious playoff implications on the line, the Packers could lean on him more heavily. As Jacobs gets further removed from the initial injury, he figures to play a significant role under the lights.

LaFleur, via Ryan Wood, acknowledged the vital role Jacobs plays in the offense’s game plan.

“He says he feels great,” LaFleur said. “So that’s a big plus. We’re definitely a different team when he’s fully involved in our offense, and we’ve got to make sure he’s the focal point whether he’s getting the ball or not.”

In each of Green Bay’s first five games, Jacobs received at least 20 touches. In the three weeks since his injury, he has logged 14, 16, and 21 touches, respectively. Even as the staff has monitored his workload, he has continued to be a factor on the ground, and the Packers went 2-1 during that stretch.

Still, Green Bay stands to improve by giving its best players the ball back. Jacobs ranks 14th in PFSN’s Running Back Impact metric. Despite seeing the eighth-highest percentage of his team’s rushes at 76.6%, Jacobs also ranks fourth in the league in attempts with 141 and second in touchdowns with 10.

The Packers’ offense has followed a similar trend, ranking fourth in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric for the season but earning grades of 79.6, 83.8, and 75.0 in the last three weeks, respectively.

Backup running back Emanual Wilson has acclimated well to an increased role, but star power often reigns supreme in the NFL. A fully healthy Jacobs could make a significant difference against a talented Philadelphia defense.

It appears Jacobs is trending in the right direction. As the games grow more meaningful, he is expected to see his early-season role restored.
