The Green Bay Packers face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in one of the most exciting matchups of the 2025 NFL season. While the Packers have been frustratingly inconsistent, they still rank among the NFL’s best all-around teams by PFSN Impact scores, sitting fifth on offense and 12th on defense heading into the primetime showdown.
With Lambeau Field in November as the backdrop, there should be much for viewers to enjoy. Yet once again, it will not be available to YouTube TV customers.
Why Is the Green Bay Packers-Philadelphia Eagles Game Not on YouTube TV?
Millions of sports fans have, in recent years, relied on YouTube TV to stream NFL games, college football, and NBA and NHL matchups through ESPN’s channels, paying a monthly subscription fee of $82.99 for a base package.
But paying customers have suddenly found ESPN and other Disney-owned networks unavailable. A contract dispute between YouTube TV and Disney has led to a blackout affecting millions of subscribers, who cannot watch the Packers take on the Eagles.
The Disney-owned channels went dark on October 30 following the failure of the two sides to reach a carriage agreement, with pricing at the center of the impasse. Disney and Google, which owns YouTube TV, pointed fingers at each other in respective statements.
“Unfortunately, Google’s YouTube TV has chosen to deny their subscribers the content they value most by refusing to pay fair rates for our channels, including ESPN and ABC,” Disney said in a statement.
“Without a new agreement in place, their subscribers will not have access to our programming, which includes the best lineup in live sports – anchored by the NFL, NBA, and college football, with 13 of the top 25 college teams playing this weekend.”
With a $3 trillion market cap, Google is using its market dominance to eliminate competition and undercut the industry-standard terms we’ve successfully negotiated with every other distributor.”
Google hit back, alleging that Disney was pressuring users towards its digital platforms, which include Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.
“Last week Disney used the threat of a blackout on YouTube TV as a negotiating tactic to force deal terms that would raise prices on our customers,” Google’s statement read. “They’re now following through on that threat, suspending their content on YouTube TV.”
“This decision directly harms our subscribers while benefiting their own live TV products, including Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.We know this is a frustrating and disappointing outcome for our subscribers and we continue to urge Disney to work with us constructively to reach a fair agreement that restores their networks to YouTube TV.”
In a statement on X, YouTube TV accused Disney of pushing for a deal that would “disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s TV products.”
YouTube TV insisted it remains committed to coming to terms on a deal, adding that it will issue a $20 credit for affected subscribers if the blackout continues for “an extended period.”
There’s still no end in sight to the standoff, meaning subscribers will miss one of the year’s most anticipated games. This adds even more fuel to fans’ growing frustration.
