Jaxson Dart recently introduced President Donald Trump on stage at a Republican rally in New York. His teammate, Abdul Carter, went on social media to express his disapproval of the quarterback for supporting the polarizing leader. Former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason ripped the young pass rusher for doing so, but many around the league fired back at the media personality.
Boomer Esiason Gets Ripped For Calling Out Abdul Carter Over Jaxson Dart Criticism
Esiason took clear offense to Carter going on his social media account to call out Dart for introducing President Trump on stage at a rally to promote Republican Mike Lawler in New York. The former MVP believes that the young quarterback was wise to accept this rare opportunity, regardless of who the President is, and specifically blasted Carter for going public with opposed opinion of his quarterback.
“This was a real error on the part of Abdul Carter,” Esiason said. “Not on the part of Jaxson Dart. Dart was asked to do something, to introduce the President of the United States. How many people get an opportunity to do something like that, regardless of who the President is?… But to put this out, like a child on social media, is ridiculous… He just made another boneheaded error by going to social media.”
Carter claimed to have cleared the air with Dart in person on their differing views of how to approach this political issue, but Esiason explained why he was too late. He called the young defender a “child” for first going to social media, rather than being a “man” and confronting Dart privately. Many around the NFL disagreed with his stance.
“An out of touch old man,” said one user on X.

Some came to Carter’s defense, criticizing Esiason for attacking him for expressing his own opinions.
“No surprise, Boomer Esiason is an idiot. I hope [Carter] is seeing how they are treating him just for speaking his mind,” said another.
Others called out Esiason’s hypocrisy for ripping Carter behind a microphone, rather than going to him man-to-man, like he suggested the defender should have done with Dart.
“Doubtful Boomer would make the claim Abdul isn’t a man to his face. Dudes get behind a microphone and get boldddd,” wrote Deshaun Watson’s QB coach, Quincy Avery.

Some speculated that Esiason’s statement was more about his personal political views than it was about the Giants’ controversy.
what a loser @7BOOMERESIASON is so obviously taking this position because he himself is a Trump fan. https://t.co/2wp3MYvs58

Esiason is a Cincinnati Bengals franchise legend, winning the MVP award and appearing in a Super Bowl during his time with the team. He has been working in sports media since then, and some Bengals fans believe he has been hurting his legacy by doing so.

Others attacked his job at WFAN as a long-running morning host, insulting his position and taking shots at the station as well.

The Giants have undergone major changes recently, including the drafting of both Dart and Carter last year, who are theoretically among the building blocks of their future. They supplemented their overhaul by hiring John Harbaugh to be their new head coach ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Harbaugh probably doesn’t want his tenure in New York to kick off with two of his bright young stars publicly feuding with each other, but according to Carter, the two of them have apparently settled their differences.
Dart flashed brilliance during his rookie season last year, finishing among the top 10 weekly quarterbacks in PFSN’s QB Impact Rankings six times in 12 starts. His growth, not his political stance, should be the focus as he enters year two.
