‘Boneheaded Error’ — NFL Legend Rips Abdul Carter’s ‘Ridiculous’ Decision To Call Out Jaxson Dart Over Donald Trump

Abdul Carter's public reaction to Jaxson Dart's Donald Trump endorsement draws fury from NFL legend Boomer Esiason.

Abdul Carter has learned the hard way that social media is a double-edged sword. The New York Giants pass rusher faced a heavy wave of backlash from both NFL analysts and fans over the weekend following a highly publicized reaction to his own teammate.

It all began on Friday when Jaxson Dart appeared at a political rally in Suffern, New York, to introduce President Donald Trump. Dart hyped the crowd with the ‘Go Big Blue’ chant and called the opportunity an ‘honor and a privilege.’ Shortly after, Carter quickly took to X to voice his disapproval and posted, ‘Thought this sh*t was AI. What we doing, man?’

This comment landed him in the crosshairs of an NFL legend, who didn’t sugarcoat the words while criticizing the young talent’s action.

Boomer Slams Abdul Carter’s Social Media Blunder

On the latest episode of the “Boomer and Gio” morning show, Boomer Esiason condemned Carter’s public call-out. The 1988 NFL MVP defended Dart’s right to accept the high-profile invitation and labeled the latter’s behavior as “childish” and “ridiculous”.

“This was a real error on the part of Abdul Carter,” Esiason said. “Not on the part of Jaxson Dart. Dart was asked to do something, to introduce the President of the United States. How many people get an opportunity to do something like that, regardless of who the President is?… But to put this out, like a child on social media, is ridiculous.”

But this wasn’t it. The Cincinnati Bengals legend dismissed Carter’s claim that the two young players have resolved the matter privately.

“And when I heard, ‘Yeah, we spoke man to man,’ Yeah, there was only one man on that call, and that was Jaxson Dart. You were a man who was late to meetings, you were a man who didn’t live up to the draft choice, you were a man who wanted to wear number 56. By the way, your idol No.56 [Lawrence Taylor] has introduced Donald Trump numerous times. So, I don’t want to hear this. He just made another boneheaded error by going to social media.”

The 22-year-old realized the escalating drama and went into damage control mode, and by the evening of the same day, he posted, “Me & JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as Men. Yall can keep yall narratives.” But the internet never forgets.

Carter, the No. 3 overall pick out of Penn State, earned PFWA All-Rookie honors with 4.0 sacks, 43 tackles, and 23 quarterback hits, setting a new franchise rookie record.

On the other hand, the 25th overall pick, Dart, also logged some spectacular performances as a quarterback, throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 12 games, and also set the franchise’s record for a quarterback with 9 rushing touchdowns. According to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 76.3, ranking 14th in the league.

The digital friction would definitely have fans concerned about the Giants’ locker-room chemistry and balance, especially after a disastrous 2025-26 season. They finished the regular season with a 4-13 record, 4th in the NFC East. After failing to make the playoffs, the franchise has high hopes for the upcoming season under its new head coach, John Harbaugh.
