NFL reporter Crissy Froyd is exposing the “culture of corruption” around the league. In an article for The Daily Mail, Froyd wrote that “at least half a dozen female reporters [have told her] that they have had sex with NFL staff” and that it’s not uncommon for reporters to trade “sex for stories.” She also revealed that she heard about the alleged Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini relationship six years ago.
NFL World Responds to Crissy Froyd Exposing Fellow Female Reporters Trading ‘Sex for Stories’
Froyd, in her article for The Daily Mail, opens up about losing her sportswriting job at USA Today based on her response to the Vrabel-Russini scandal. Now, she isn’t mincing words about some of her peers, and the NFL world had plenty to say about her piece.
Tony Farmer, host of the Last Men Standing podcast, posted on X some lengthy comments and details from Froyd’s article.
Woah!! Bombshells dropped by sports writer Crissy Froyd today:
– 6+ female reporters told Crissy first-hand they had sex with NFL staff and coaches of the team they were covering (Is this what the NFL is hiding?)

“Woah!! Bombshells dropped by sports writer Crissy Froyd today: 6+ female reporters told Crissy first-hand they had sex with NFL staff and coaches of the team they were covering (Is this what the NFL is hiding?),” Farmer wrote.
Farmer added that his “favorite line” from the story was this: “Even more disheartening, it appears that no one is particularly interested in getting to the bottom of this story.”
Nikki Gist, who is a co-host of Between The Uprights and Hot Takes Hard Lines, also shared her thoughts on Froyd’s article.
Gist posted on X, “Worst kept secret. The list goes on and on. I think people would be shocked if they really knew”.

One influencer reacted to Farmer’s post by writing on X: “This is disgusting. This type of behavior should not be brushed aside as, ‘well that’s just the industry..’ the NFL needs to clean up its act.”
One attorney posted on X, “This is the Daily Mail, who knows if it is true, so bear that caveat in mind … But the realities are that (1) in most enterprises there is some trading of sex or at least sexualized conduct to try and get ahead, and (2) this is harmful for working women who don’t want to trade sex.”

Another influencer, in reaction to what Farmer shared, posted on X: “Holy sh*t! A whistleblower has come forward!”
After news broke publicly about Vrabel’s relationship with Russini, he stepped away from the team on the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft to enter counseling alongside his family. The Patriots have supported Vrabel and his job appears to be safe. The NFL has said that it won’t investigate Vrabel since they are treating this as a personal matter.
As for Russini, she resigned from The Athletic. It remains to be seen what her next move will be and whether she will try to resume her career as an NFL insider.
