Patrick Mahomes just got a record-breaking raise, and the NFL world reacted to the massive agreement between Kansas City and the former MVP.

Patrick Mahomes has broken another NFL record. He may be injured, but he’s still finding ways to make NFL history.

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes reached a record-breaking agreement to restructure his deal, adding a giant sum of money to reward Mahomes for his legendary NFL career so far.

NFL World Reacts as Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes Agree to Mega Deal

The Chiefs added two years onto his current deal, which is now valued at $504.75 million, per ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter. Mahomes is now under contract until 2033. It was never a doubt that Mahomes would be in Kansas City long-term, but this contract restructure cemented his place with the Chiefs for the next eight seasons.

This is the only contract in NFL history to be valued at over half a billion dollars. For years, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was the highest-paid quarterback in terms of average annual value, but now Mahomes holds that title at $64 million per year.

After the deal was reported, the NFL world took to social media to give Mahomes his flowers and react to his massive payday.

“Worth every penny,” former NFL QB turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky wrote on X.

Mahomes is currently recovering from a torn ACL, but the Chiefs didn’t wait for him to return to give him record-setting money. Even better for Mahomes, all of the $504.75 million is guaranteed.

“$64M in new money average. A record-high,” said NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

“Half a billion..guaranteed,” said NFL analyst Trey Wingo.

One NFL influencer was floored by the new deal.

“$500 Million guaranteed is some crazy sh*t,” they wrote.

Mahomes is getting a huge raise, with the Chiefs adding $239.05 million and two years to the deal. But all that money is being distributed throughout the deal starting in 2027 and will alter his cap hits down the road rather than simply being tacked onto the end of the deal.

“This is where the misleading ‘new-money’ analysis swallows its own tail. If the Chiefs are adding two new years to the existing deal and $239.05 million in new money, the new-money APY is $119.525 million,” said ProFootballTalk on X.

Prior to this Mahomes deal, Prescott held the record of the most expensive contract in NFL history with an average annual value of $60 million. Mahomes shattered that and is in a league of his own once again.

“The Dak deal has finally been passed,” said radio host Alec Medford.

All eyes will be on Mahomes and whether he can return from his torn ACL in time for the beginning of the season.

Last season was a down year for Mahomes, who finished 17th in PFSN’s QB Impact score.

After some offensive changes, Mahomes will be tasked with bringing the Chiefs back to Super Bowl contention.
