The Seattle Seahawks’ interest in cornerback Terrion Arnold isn’t sitting well with a lot of football fans.
Arnold, the former Detroit Lions first-round pick, worked out for the Seahawks at their Renton facility last week. The visit made its way into the second episode of “Hard Knocks,” which follows Seattle’s training camp this summer.
Cameras caught head coach Mike Macdonald and defensive coordinator Aden Durde watching Arnold run drills, and the episode closed with Arnold, who ranked 90th in PFSN NFL CB Impact rankings last season, hugging Macdonald as the two wrapped up the tryout.
However, the Seahawks faced widespread criticism online for hosting the much-maligned cornerback, who has repeatedly made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Seahawks Facing Backlash Over Terrion Arnold Tryout
Arnold was released by the Lions in late June, just days after he turned himself in to authorities in Tampa on charges connected to a robbery and kidnapping case. Prosecutors allege Arnold orchestrated the kidnapping and beating of three men he believed had stolen cash and luxury goods from him.
He’s facing four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, charges that carry the possibility of life in prison. Arnold has denied the allegations through his representatives, and no trial date has been set.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared clips from the episode featuring Arnold trying out for Seattle on X, and the replies came fast. Most of them weren’t kind.

Detroit beat writer Mike Payton needed only three words to describe his reaction: “This is weird.”
Others went further. One user, posting under the handle “Dan Campbell owns the Bears,” argued the Seahawks are making a mistake by even entertaining the idea. “There’s really 0 benefit to trying to have a moral stance when building a team culture,” the post read.
That sentiment showed up elsewhere, too. One fan called out the league itself for giving Arnold’s tryout airtime. “The NFL is actually promoting this (expletive), joke of a league,” the post read.
Football writer Prince J. Grimes wrote, “‘Will he make the team better’ is the question you have?” questioning Macdonald’s concerns from the “Hard Knocks” clip.
Another account credited Arnold’s agent for keeping the doors open despite the circumstances. “Nicole Lynn may be the best agent of all time,” the post read, wondering how Arnold keeps landing chances with teams.
Arnold posted a $1 million bond in late June and has been living under strict conditions, including house confinement outside of team activities and court appearances.
