NFL Trade Deadline: Could the Saints and Seahawks Strike a Deal?

One player in particular may be traded away from the Saints today, and the Seattle Seahawks would be the likely team involved in the deal.

With deals needed to get done, the New Orleans Saints should be busy at the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline. Will this end up happening? Probably not, but that does not mean zero deals will be made. One player in particular may be traded away from the Saints today, and the Seattle Seahawks would be the likely team involved in the deal.

Seahawks Emerge as Potential Trade Deadline Partner for Saints Guard Cesar Ruiz

The player in question is the Saints’ starting RG Cesar Ruiz. Last week, it was first reported that New Orleans made the former first-round pick available in trade talks, which was a noteworthy move in general. I believed that the San Francisco 49ers would be interested in bulking up their offensive line and acquiring Ruiz, but instead, it may be their division rival.

According to Corbin K. Smith, if the Seahawks make a deal today, the most likely scenario is a trade with the Saints for Ruiz.

What the Saints Could Get Back in Ruiz Trade

This trade involves several key factors to consider: the Seahawks are in win-now mode, Seattle’s OC, Klint Kubiak, already has experience with Ruiz from last year in New Orleans, and the trade is for a starting OL. The Saints should be asking for around a third-round pick, but it’s doubtful the Seahawks get the deal done for that price.

This season, Ruiz has not played well, and in PFSN’s OL Impact Metric, he ranks 49th among all guards, with a career-low D+ grade. Compared to last year, when Kubiak was the OC, Ruiz had a B- grade and ranked 19th among guards. Ruiz is having a low year, which means the Saints need to sell low, and a 4th-round pick would be the expected price that could get the deal done.
