NFL Week 12 Quarterback Rankings Reaction: Is Bo Nix Just a Game Manager?

The Denver Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, but the question is how much quarterback Bo Nix was a part of the win.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, but the question is how much quarterback Bo Nix was a part of the win. He threw for 295 yards and totaled over 300 scrimmage yards, but Nix didn’t record a touchdown in Week 11. This is interesting for Broncos fans. Let’s take a closer look at the utility of Nix in the Broncos’ offense.

Debating the Utility of Bo Nix

In Week 11, Nix graded out at No. 12 in PFSN’s QB Impact Score. That said, he didn’t move up in PFSN’s QB Rankings. PFSN’s Jacob Infante published his Week 12 QB Rankings on Monday. In it, Nix is idle.

“For the eighth game in a row, Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos came out victorious. In their 22-19 last-second victory over the Chiefs, Nix threw for 295 yards, not adding any touchdowns into the equation but also avoiding interceptions in a clean performance. Throughout the 2025 NFL season, Nix’s QBi grade has generally been in line with the consensus that he’s a strong game manager at quarterback. He hasn’t particularly elevated the Broncos’ offense,” Infante wrote.

While Nix hasn’t elevated the Broncos’ offense consistently in 2025, there’s no fall-off in Year 2. In other words, he has a strong floor for head coach Sean Payton to work with. In Year 2, Nix’s stats are nearly identical and, in the second half of the season, the Broncos’ offense is subtly shifting toward a pass-first attack. Nix has attempted 35-plus passes in two of his past three games, independent of game script.

In fact, Payton called 10 passes compared to three runs on their opening drive in Week 11. Kicker Will Lutz, meanwhile, made a 29-yard field goal to cap off a 14-play, 54-yard drive that lasted seven minutes and 24 seconds. The Broncos’ first drive in Week 11 is twofold. Nix established the pass, and he was able to successfully play keep-away.

The tangibles are there for Nix. He needs consistency coming out of the Week 12 bye week, though. There are five come-from-behind wins, four games of three-plus touchdowns, and three games of 300-plus scrimmage yards. It helps these growing pains are happening during a — checks notes — eight-game winning streak.
