The Denver Broncos are 10-2, atop the AFC West, and the No. 2 seed in the AFC Conference. We all know the Broncos are on a nine-game winning streak as well. But here’s a fun fact: Denver can clinch the AFC West as soon as Week 15; that’s within their next two games. More on this below.
How Broncos Can Clinch the AFC West
The Broncos can clinch the AFC West if they win the next two games — Weeks 14 and 15 — and if the Los Angeles Chargers fail to win either game the next two weeks, according to PSFN Analytics. Denver would be 12-2, and the Chargers would be 8-5-1 or 8-6 in this scenario — with three games to go. So, if the Broncos lost out after Week 15, Denver would be 12-5. And if the Chargers won out after Week 15, Los Angeles would be 11-5-1 or 11-6.
The Kansas City Chiefs, meanwhile, would be 8-6 if they won the next two games. But Kansas City would be unable to reach the Broncos. Even if Denver lost out after Week 15, the Broncos would be 12-5. And even if the Chiefs won out after Week 15, Kansas City would be 11-6.
Circling back to the Chargers, however, if Denver goes 1-0-1 (11-2-1) and the Chargers go 0-2 (8-6), the former would clinch the division in this scenario as well. What does all of this mean? Well, the Broncos’ prospects are looking good. The Broncos play the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14 and the Green Bay Packers in Week 15. The Broncos can obtain the No. 1 seed with four games to go and clinch the AFC West with three games to go within the next two weeks.
Broncos fans should be rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14 and the Chiefs (again) in Week 15. The Chargers, meanwhile, are trying to keep the AFC West more competitive down the stretch. And the Chiefs need every win they can get to obtain a wildcard slot. The next two weeks are huge for the AFC West.
The Broncos’ offense is No. 14 in PFSN’s Offense Impact, while the Broncos’ defense is No. 2 in PFSN’s Defense Impact Score. The Raiders’ offense is No. 23, while the Raiders’ defense is No. 23. And the Packers’ offense is No. 7, while the Packers’ defense is No. 9.
