There wasn’t much that went right for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, but tight end Trey McBride was a bright spot.
The Cardinals were obliterated 44-22 in Sunday’s loss, but McBride showed up, as he has all season long. After the game, Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett credited his tight end for yet another incredible performance despite the team not showing up in Seattle.
How Did Jacoby Brissett React To Trey McBride’s Big Game?
The Cardinals fell into a 35-point hole early in the second quarter, and the game never really got close. Arizona’s offense started to find a groove once Seattle’s defense laid back a little, but there was still only one offensive player who really performed on Sunday.
That was McBride, who’s shown up in every game this season. The Cardinals’ tight end finished the day with nine catches for 127 yards and a touchdown.
McBride has been the focal point of Arizona’s offense and its best playmaker all year long. Sunday was his second game with at least nine catches this year and his first game with 100 receiving yards.
“It’s no surprise. He’s, if not, the best tight end in the league, and it shows every week,” Brissett said. “The amount of respect that they gave him on the other side. They tried doubling him as well, and putting their corners on him, and their safeties – like giving him a whole bunch of different looks.
“He made the most of a lot of his opportunities.”
McBride leads the NFL in receptions among tight ends and is second in receiving yards behind only the Indianapolis Colts’ tight end Tyler Warren. The Cardinals’ tight end is also tied with Green Bay Packers’ tight end Tucker Kraft for the most receiving touchdowns in the NFL at their position.
As for the entire NFL, regardless of position, McBride ranks No. 6 in receptions and No. 16 in yards.
The Cardinals’ tight end has at least five catches in every game this season, and 11 straight games going back to 2024. Just two other tight ends have longer streaks in NFL history – Travis Kelce and Tony Gonzalez.
McBride has at least 11 targets in four games this year, and hasn’t had fewer than seven targets in any game this year.
The star tight end has been the best player on Arizona’s offense all year long, and that continued on Sunday against the Seahawks.
In fact, this is McBride’s third straight Top 10 season, according to PFSN’s TE Impact, and each of those seasons ranks in the Top 50 TEi out of 370 qualified seasons since 2019.
McBride has developed into a star on the Cardinals’ offense and one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
