As a reunion appears to be in its early stages between the New York Giants and former All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., questions are rightfully surfacing regarding what he’ll be able to offer a team at this point in his career.
Beckham, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Giants, will turn 34 years old in November.

The Giants hosted Beckham, their No. 12 overall pick in 2014, in the facility on Monday. He worked out in front of the team and participated in a physical to get a proper gauge of his condition.
With the 2026 NFL Draft looming this week, the Giants have a pair of top-10 selections. They were already sitting pretty with the No. 5 overall pick, but after trading disgruntled defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend, they acquired the No. 10 overall selection as well. If anything were to happen between the Giants and Beckham, it wouldn’t be until after the draft.
The “if” in that sentence is the major conjunction. It has been nearly two years since Beckham has played in an NFL game; it’s fair to wonder what he can even bring to the table at this point.
“I don’t know how much he’s got left in the tank,” said Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio in a ‘PFT Live’ segment. “We haven’t heard him connected to any team since he was released by the Miami Dolphins. He could’ve signed with any contender, he could’ve gotten on a team with a playoff run, he could’ve been on a team last offseason. What does he really have?”
Beckham hasn’t played in a game since Dec. 8, 2024, when he was on a one-year contract with the Dolphins. He was subsequently released less than a week later and hasn’t stepped back on the field since. Florio speculates that the time away could have been intentional, as Beckham has battled through multiple significant knee injuries in his final truly productive years.
“It’d be great to see him back doing what he did with the Giants all those years ago, but man, it’s been a long time,” Florio added. “We’ll see. He’s had a workout, showed up for a physical; it’s a 90-man roster. Still gotta get to 53.”
Beckham’s stint with the Browns lasted less than three seasons after he was released midway through the 2021 campaign. Days later, the Los Angeles Rams signed Beckham to a one-year deal, and he would go on to become an imperative piece of their offense en route to a Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

He scored a touchdown in five of the eight regular-season games he played for the Rams, totaling 27 receptions for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns in that span.
He accounted for 21 receptions for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Rams’ four postseason contests, including a 17-yard score in the Super Bowl before sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. It was the same ACL he had torn in 2020 with the Browns. The injury would keep him shelved for the entire following season.
The Giants’ offense ranked No. 24 in the league in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric with an impact score of 70.7 last season, but that was due in large part to a year that was marred by injuries.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was in and out of the lineup with injuries, first-round receiver Malik Nabers sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in just his fourth game of his sophomore season, and another rookie, running back Cam Skattebo, suffered a ghastly dislocated ankle that ended his season.
