Angel Reese Sends Heartfelt Message After Her Brother Julian Reese Signs With Wizards

Angel Reese is a proud big sister who sent love to her brother Julian Reese signing a contract with the Washington Wizards. Find out more here.

The Washington Wizards are one of several teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference already looking ahead to next season. However, the team still has to finish the regular season’s final stage, and they made a notable roster move, signing forward Julian Reese. Reese’s older sister, top WNBA star Angel Reese, was quick to react.

Angel Reese Congratulates Her Brother on Signing Wizards Contract

Reese congratulated her brother on social media, saying, “My baby brother. Ugh, I’m so proud of you! Your journey has never been easy, & you’ve always stayed the course! Let’s go, Juju!”

The Wizards signed Reese to a two-way contract, meaning he’ll split time between the NBA and the G League. The contract essentially allows Reese to play for his hometown team, as he’s a Baltimore, Maryland native, which is around an hour away from Washington, DC.

Reese played four years of college basketball at the University of Maryland and was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention three times. He finished his career with the Terrapins, averaging 11.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7% from the field.

Reese was not selected in last summer’s draft, but signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors and earned extended playing time on the G League team this season. While Reese provided solid production for the Raptors 905, he’ll head back to the United States for a fresh opportunity near his hometown.

The Wizards have lost their last three games and are currently 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 16-42 record. The team made significant moves at the trade deadline, acquiring 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis and four-time All-Star Trae Young, though it’s questionable whether either of them will make their debuts this season. Reese should earn playing time during the regular season’s final weeks, as the Wizards have a thin frontcourt rotation.

Cornerstone center Alex Sarr is also out of action, as he’s dealing with a right hamstring strain, and the team certainly won’t rush his recovery. Reese’s best pro position is center due to his lack of shooting range, and 2023 second-round pick Tristan Vukčević is getting most of the minutes there with Sarr unavailable. Vukčević has regressed as a shooter this season, and there isn’t a true backup behind him.

As Reese looks to capitalize on this opportunity, his famous older sister will be cheering him on.
