The NFL is trying to make the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers emanating from Brazil a major global event. With a special broadcast taking place on YouTube for the entire game, the streaming giant invited many content creators, with iShowSpeed leading the pack, to grab mainstream attention.
This came on the heels of a hilarious advertisement featuring the most subscribed channel on the platform, MrBeast, making a video with the NFL before the season got underway. James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson is one of the most popular faces across the globe. However, his association with the league, with his presence all over the broadcast between the Chiefs and the Chargers, hasn’t gone over well with the regular NFL audience.
Fans Grow Tired of MrBeast’s NFL Presence in the Chiefs-Chargers Match
The introduction of celebrities as a constant presence during games has typically not gone over well with the fan base. Over the last few years, the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift has caused the latter to become a constant presence at Chiefs games.
The cutaways to Swift in the box did not go over well with the NFL fans. This time around, it’s MrBeast who is receiving similar treatment. With over 430 million subscribers and counting, his presence on YouTube is unmatched.
As a result, the league may have wanted to capitalize on his popularity, especially as the broadcast was being made via the global giant. However, it did not take long for the fan base to grow tired of his presence as well.
One fan wrote, “Immediate good vibes from that gone with MrBeast popping back up,” for the very first appearance from the uber-popular content creator in the game. But the feeling wasn’t an isolated one. “Impossible to explain how uninterested I am in MrBeast,” another fan added.
Some immediately drew the connection to the global musical icon’s presence last season. However, for one fan, Donaldson was worse. “I thought Taylor Swift crashing the NFL was bad, but MrBeast is way worse.”

For those who were out of the bubble that he had cast over the streaming industry, their first exposure did not go very well. One fan exclaimed, “I’ve managed to dodge this MrBeast character until today. F**k you very much, YouTube.”

However, he wasn’t the only one to feel that way, as another fan had a hilarious backhanded compliment for the league,” The NFL has one of the best products in the world. And they constantly force me to do things I don’t want to do, like learn who MrBeast is and be subjected to him. And I accept it. And that’s how good the #NFL is.”

But for most people, the constant cuts to MrBeast were getting exceedingly annoying. One fan’s anger was palpable as he wrote, “I’m not making it to halftime if MrBeast pops up every intermission. I will rip my skin off. My NFL app is the same exact broadcast.”

Another was more direct with his admission. “GET MrBEAST OFF MY F**KING SCREEN.” Some fans were so annoyed that they were ready to make an expensive deal to watch the NFL without his presence. “I would pay @DIRECTV 3x what I currently pay in order to skip all this 12-year-old MrBeast garbage. #nfl”

Some tried to summarize it to the best of their abilities. “There is literally zero space for MrBeast to be in anything NFL related.”

With the reach and audience that MrBeast provides, thanks to over 430 million subscribers, it’s unlikely that the NFL will stop its partnership based on a few stray comments from the fan base.
The upside of the collaboration is far too high for the league to consider otherwise. Like Swift, the fans might just have to get used to Donaldson’s constant presence during NFL broadcasts.
