Which Team Has the Least Athletic 2026 NFL Draft Class? Rams, Chiefs Rank Last in RAS Rankings

Following the end of the 2026 NFL Draft, here's a look at the teams in the league which selected the least athletic players this year.

The 2026 NFL Draft brought a ton of surprises with it. Over three days, teams made a myriad of moves and some truly unpredictable decisions with their roster. Now that the dust has settled, fans have a clearer idea of the roster their team is likely to move forward with.

As the breakdown of the talent haul for each team comes into focus, each franchise’s priorities become clear. While some focus on athletic freaks, two teams in particular, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams, went a different route.

One of the earliest ways to evaluate each class comes through the Relative Athletic Score (RAS), the testing metric created by the brilliant Kent Lee Platte. Evaluating talent through a purely physical lens, it compares size, explosion, speed, and agility for prospects against players at their position over the last four decades, starting in 1987.

This year, some teams were noticeably behind on the scale.

Teams With the Least Athletic 2026 NFL Draft Classes

1) Los Angeles Rams

One of the most shocking decisions of the draft came on the first day itself, when the Rams chose to take Ty Simpson with their lone first-round pick. After trading their other first-rounder for Trent McDuffie, their focus was zeroed in on the offensive side of the ball.

As a result, four of their five selections were catered towards the offense. However, their first three picks, Simpson, Max Klare, and Keagen Trost, did not test enough to qualify for an RAS score.

Between CJ Daniels and Tim Keenan III, they averaged a disastrous 4.41 RAS score, ranking as the lowest in the NFL.

2) Kansas City Chiefs

The gap between the Rams and the Chiefs, who were ranked 31st out of all 32 teams, was huge. The two teams involved in the McDuffie transaction, the Chiefs still kept some of their focus on offensive explosiveness, a penchant for head coach Andy Reid.

While their big move of the draft, trading up three spots for Mansoor Delane, is going to be a polarizing move, it did not help or hurt them in the RAS score. Delane was one of two players, the other being Garrett Nussmeier, their final draft selection, who did not qualify for the metric.

As a result, their RAS was calculated by the average of their other five selections. It came out to 7.14, with Cyrus Allen getting the highest score at 8.69, while Emmett Johnson was the lowest at 5.56.

3) Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders got their quarterback of the future in Fernando Mendoza, but overall, their draft class isn’t athletic enough. While Mendoza was not qualified for the RAS score, many of their other selections were.

Treydan Stukes had an impressive 9.76 RAS score, while Jermoyd McCoy, who slipped to the fourth round, had a 9.68 RAS score. However, their late selections of Dalton Johnson (6.0), Hezekiah Mases (3.39), Malik Benson (6.06), and Brandon Cleveland (5.10) dropped their average score to 7.14.
