Kyle Pitts Sr. Injury Update: Will the Falcons TE Play in Week 15?

The Falcons have not had a good season in 2025, and now the team may have to play without one of its best weapons in Week 15.

The Atlanta Falcons have had a disastrous 2025 season. Entering Week 15, the team is sitting at 4-9 and has lost seven out of its last eight games. In Week 15, the Falcons will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.

The Falcons won’t be making the playoffs, but they’d love to upset the division-leading Bucs. Unfortunately, tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. popped up on the team’s estimated injury report on Monday. What do we know about the former first-round pick’s status?

Will Kyle Pitts Play in Week 15?

The Falcons didn’t practice on Monday, but they released an estimated injury report. Pitts was listed as a limited participant with a knee injury.

Pitts hasn’t missed a game this season, so it’s concerning to hear he’s dealing with an ailment on a short week. Since the Falcons play on Thursday, they could just be being cautious with their pass catcher. We will probably learn more about his status for the game on Wednesday.

Wide receiver Drake London, who leads the team in receiving yards, was listed as a non-participant on Monday, so it’s at least possible the Falcons are without their top two pass-catchers on Thursday.

Pitts has been one of the most important weapons for the Falcons in 2025. The Florida product leads the team in receptions with 62 and is second on the team in yards with 631. PFSN’s TE Impact ranking gives Pitts a 79.0 grade for his performance, which ranks 16th out of 77 qualified tight ends.

Pitts missed seven games in 2022, but other than that, he has never missed time in the NFL. Without Pitts, the team would likely turn to veteran Charlie Woerner to start at the tight end spot.

Falcons Looking for Positives in Lost 2025 Season

In the offseason, the Falcons had high expectations. 2025 was going to be the first season as the full-time starting quarterback for Michael Penix Jr., and the hope was that the team would compete for the NFC South crown after winning eight games last year.

Instead, the Falcons are behind both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers and have been eliminated from playoff contention heading into Week 15.

Penix Jr. has not had the breakout that some expected, either. PFSN’s QB Impact ranking gives the Washington product a 69.6 grade, which ranks 26th out of 42 qualified passers. The quarterback has 1,982 passing yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Falcons will now look to end the season on a positive note. After taking on the Bucs in Week 15, the team will end the season with games against the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints.
