Three months after Green Bay Packers star Josh Jacobs was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident, the running back was charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property on Thursday. The NFL analysts on social media had varied reactions to the news of Jacobs’ off-field troubles.

The new evidence in Jacobs’ case is the details from the police report shared earlier today.
The police report noted: “Jacobs grabbed her (Jacobs’ girlfriend, who is referred to as ‘ANM’) and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury. Jacobs then took her phone from her while she was on the ground. ANM laid on the ground for a while and then struggled to walk back into the house.”
Peter Bukowski, who covers the Packers, predicted that the league would still find sufficient evidence to punish Jacobs.
“The thing about any criminal charge is the burden of proof is the same regardless of severity,” Bukowski said on X. “But the fact Josh Jacobs was originally arrested on more serious offenses and charged with less can still be taken into account by the NFL. They don’t require the same burden.”

After reading the police report from the incident, Bears Wire’s Brendan Sugrue suggested that the Packers should let Jacobs go. He wrote, “Josh Jacobs shouldn’t have a job after this.”

Analyst Zach Kruse demanded that the Packers release the troubled running back: “If there’s video proof of this, Josh Jacobs has to be released.”

Kirsten Tanis also slammed Jacobs and wrote, “Sickening. Based on the description, that they have it on video as described & police felt the bump on her skull, not sure how he got this pleaded down to a misdemeanor. NFL must punish this behavior.”

Jacobs won the national championship during his college football career playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide before being selected No. 24 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders (now the Las Vegas Raiders). He spent the first five years of his NFL career with the franchise before joining the Packers in 2024.
Last season, Jacobs tallied 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 234 carries, and also added 282 receiving yards on 36 receptions. He earned a PFN Running Back Impact score of 76.5 (No. 16 in the NFL).
Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards in 2022 and has earned three Pro Bowl nods and one First-team All-Pro selection in his career.
