Josh Allen Injury Update: Latest on the Bills QB’s Who’s Playing Through Pain in Week 16 vs. Browns

The Buffalo Bills may have avoided catastrophe against the Cleveland Browns with a potential injury to superstar quarterback Josh Allen.

All sports media and talking heads are in unanimous agreement that the 2025 NFL season presents a major opportunity for the Buffalo Bills. With their playoff Achilles Heel in the Kansas City Chiefs, who have beaten them four times in recent years, already out of the picture, it is an opportunity for the Bills to break a three-decade-long streak.

However, to get there, they need everything they can get from their superstar quarterback and reigning MVP, Josh Allen. Unfortunately, in Week 16, facing a ferocious Cleveland Browns defense, the organization was on the verge of catastrophe due to an injury to him.

What Happened to Josh Allen?

Thanks to yet another dominant outing from James Cook, who had already eclipsed 100 rushing yards in the game, Buffalo was in complete control of the Browns with a 20-10 lead. However, they had an opportunity to tack on more points in the waning moments of the second quarter.

Unfortunately, the defensive front for Cleveland was finally able to break free and take Allen down near his own end zone. While he narrowly avoided a safety, the dynamic dual-threat quarterback twisted awkwardly and had a rough landing on the ground.

As a result, he was immediately holding his knee and calf area in pain before possession shifted, and he could tend to his ailment on the sideline. As trainers attended to his leg, the Browns were able to fire off a field goal thanks to excellent field positioning on the punt return.

However, before the kick was even attempted, Bills fans had to hear some terrible news: “Josh Allen to the locker room before the kick here in Cleveland. He’s limping.” However, it didn’t seem like the injury was going to keep him out of the game.

Returning from the break, he was right back on the field, orchestrating the offense for the Bills under center. Thankfully, that is the only scenario where Buffalo can remain a legitimate player in the AFC.

While the overall roster has a ton of upside and Cook has been far and away the best running back in the NFL (first on PFSN’s RB Impact as well), the entire operation for the Bills ultimately comes down to their quarterback.

A one-of-one talent between his arm and impeccable ability to make plays on the ground, he is ranked number one on PFSN’s QB Impact for the second consecutive year, as he’s remained in the top-three for six consecutive seasons.
