Jordan Addison knows the NFL is watching. The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver faces an uncertain start to the 2025 season as he awaits word on a potential suspension stemming from his 2024 DUI arrest. With new quarterback J.J. McCarthy taking over, the timing couldn’t be worse for a player who’s become essential to the Vikings’ offensive success.
What Does Jordan Addison’s Legal Situation Mean for His 2025 Availability?
Jordan Addison has been a key piece of the Minnesota Vikings’ offense since the franchise selected him 23rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The wide receiver has been a strong complementary piece to superstar Justin Jefferson. In two seasons, he has recorded 1,786 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 133 receptions while adding 22 rushing yards and one touchdown on four carries.
He was equally productive in his rookie season when the Vikings started four different quarterbacks after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles in Week 8, and his sophomore season when Sam Darnold started all 17 games and helped lead the team to the second-best record in franchise history. However, Minnesota opted not to retain their starting quarterback, as they will turn the reins over to J.J. McCarthy, the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
While the first-year starter must get on the same page with Addison and Jefferson, the former may not be available to begin the season. He recently weighed in on his potential suspension following his 2024 arrest for driving under the influence.
Addison was arrested in July 2024 near the Los Angeles International Airport after California Highway Patrol officers found him asleep at the wheel, blocking lanes of traffic. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit of 0.08%. The Vikings star agreed to a plea deal last week to resolve the case, pleading guilty to a lesser charge of wet reckless.
He discussed the potential suspension that he could receive from the NFL with the media at training camp on Wednesday, stating:
“Everything is out of my control right now so whatever the league got for me, I’ll be prepared for whatever decision they make… [I agreed to a plea deal] just really to get it all behind me and just get on with the season.”

It’s unclear how long Addison will be suspended for, if at all. However, his 2024 arrest was not his first time getting into legal trouble for his actions behind the wheel. The Vikings wide receiver was cited for speeding and reckless driving in July 2023, ahead of his rookie season.
