Vic Fangio held a press conference on Thursday after the Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their second day of training camp practices. With reporters seated to hear the veteran coach’s thoughts on his defense, he had a curious remark to start the day, “invoking” the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering questions.

The first question of the press conference was about the safety group, one of the biggest concerns for the Eagles entering the season. Fangio was asked what the plan was at the position, and he laughed, saying, “I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the Fifth Amendment on all questions. Did you guys see that? Oh my god.”
Not everybody was happy to see Fangio trolling the situation, though. NFL personalities had mixed reactions to how the coordinator started the press conference. One user on Twitter said, “Shut up and call plays, my guy.”

Another user, who was also unhappy with Fangio’s comments, added, “Here’s the powers that be keeping politics out of sports. Again reminded that only applies to one group”

But the reactions to Fangio’s comments weren’t all negative.

Another user also laughed at how the coordinator started speaking with the reporters, saying, “Even he knows Fauci is a joke”

All things considered, Fangio had an eventful press conference. He made interesting revelations about players, telling reporters that Jihaad Campbell is unlikely to line up as an EDGE in 2026, while Jonathan Greenard will miss most of training camp with a pec strain.
He also stated that he wants Moro Ojomo to stay with the Philadelphia Eagles next year.
The veteran coordinator contemplated retirement after the 2025 season, but returned to the Philadelphia Eagles and said that he was good for “two years, at least.” After such a difficult year, his return was one of the best pieces of news of the offseason for Philadelphia, who are once again one of the contenders in the NFC.
